I got in touch with a company offering some nice equipment for the SLK. Hope to get the prices while the next days - asked for "nice ones" for a Club. See, what´s coming around...

that Carbon gear knob is very nice. but would need Carbon dash bits to compliment it

You can see them in the last picture.
Probably they'll have the bits for the door handles as well.

mp design has the most carbon peices for the SLK from small to large parts to compliment the interior but the only downfall is that they are too expensive.

i dunno ive never really been a fan of the carbon fiber interior bits. Also i dont understand why it is so expensive. Its not like its extremely difficult or expensive to make from what I understand.

Also I heard there's a shortage b/c it has became so popular. It was once used on race cars only and now comes standard on exotics, and everyone wants to have CF in their cars. Economics 101, supply and demand, charge as much as you can.

i only really like it on the outside, i dont understand using it for the interior peices. your not saving any weight. everyones different tho i guess.

Please dont thank for anything Doug. If Bill wants the support, he knows my adress. I could offer some good contacts for interieur and exterieur parts and ECU upgrades for SLK and other cars. The commission or a part of it Bill could use for slkworld.com and everybody pays regular prices.

Yeah they are running out anyone heard of the Murcielago lp640 customers beign cut back a couple of months on their orders which is due to CF.

The new Audi R8 doesn't offer CF trim for the same reason. I think.

no shortage of carbon, there's a shortage of titanium. carbon strands used with epoxy to get general what people call carbon fiber is synthetically made and can be do so to use high quality carbon material.

Most carbon components I see are just a bling factor. cfc were original used as the lightweight structural properties compared to ali. a lot of the stuff you see require no structural properties and plastic would be a better application of material for many reasons but the one. people like the look of it, because they've seen it used in f1 or likewise.

it's funny as a greatly designed component probably wouldn't use the crossweave fabric as you relate to the texture of cfc, it would used specific unidirectional layers to perfectly meet the best structural support required for that component. so you would just see the upper ply and it would look very dark, almost charcoal.

edit: nice to talk about though, as i'm now looking for work i should be trying to get the mind kickstarted once more.

I don't understand why people buy carbon fiber interior kits. They are just cosmetics, you may say they are lighter but how much ligher 30 gr.? Carbon fiber body kit makes huge difference but for interior, I am out! If there is a good replica I mightthink of buying one...

they buy it to make the interior look more sporty rathern than classy with wood venner.

I agree, most buy it for the sporty look not necessary to save weight, if you want to save weight, then just strip everyting out of the car.
