We shall see what the price is. Honestly, I was thinkin about trying to save some cash and do it. But if its like the other prices, around 10 and maybe 15thousand USD's installed, i might as well just keep it and put it towards a 55. Cuz thats the only thing it is doing.

If your big on manual, then this is a good choice, as it gives you 55 performance.

I'm huge on manual but for 15 to 18K I'm going to learn to love paddles. I've been thinking about the supercharger for a long time but it makes more sense to just get the 55, more horses, bigger brakes, better interior, and you get the AMG badge. I originally thought that SCer's only cost $8K and $2K to install, boy was I wrong.

Still, if you have had the car for awhile, with alot of mods or sent value, and want better gas mileage, a big time sleeper. And like i said before, you can have a manual

Hey guys, I just got done tracking my SLK350 MT against guys with Turbo's, etc. Our instructor, who makes, sells and races custom set ups for Mustang's has driven an AMG SLK55 and found the front end weight too heavy for tracking (back end is too light and tends to spin out too easy). He loved the way the SLK350 ran against the big dogs, especially in weight balance, braking and overall performance. So if you can keep your weight balance essentially the same with the SC, you have a HUGE ADVANTAGE over the SLK55. Plus you have sleeper against those guys who are suping up their cars or those who just have larger engines. The SLK 350 will out perform a 350Z, and those guys can mod with twin turbo's, a SC will then still outperform.

Now if you want the SLK55 for looks and sound, go for it. But as a sleeper at the track, I would be willing to go for it. Something to seriously think about, and the SC has much less issues than the guys with Turbo's (cooling, oil temps, intercooler issues, etc.).

Just my thoughts......

I remember reading a kleemann SLK55 review in top gear (at least I think it was top gear), and it was only 3 seconds slower than a Ferrari F430 on a long track. They said that with a tighter suspension and better brakes, it would be as fast as F430. However, on autocross and very tight technical courses, a manual SLK350 would have an advantage over 55... power doesn't really help you there. SLK55 (and 350) will probably get pwned by miata's on autocross

A supercharger on a 350 is worth a good $25,000 just to NOT have to have that automatic. The 6-speed is too much fun. It's one of the few things keeping me interested in the car. The lack of sport suspension is wearing on me.

Speaking of which, a 350 with a supercharger, if it weighs less then 55, would handle much better.

However, I have promised that I would not supercharge mine until the 3 year warranty has lapsed. After all, it is my daily transportation.

Isn't it 4 years/50k miles? I'm only 11k miles away from warranty expiring. Which blower seems to be the best? Kleemann, ART, ??

In the USA, its 4years/50k miles (not sure about other countries). The most widely used Mercedes tuners are Kleemann and Renntech, however, it appears that they do not offer a supercharger yet.

I do agree, the SLK350 is fun on a short and technical track, it's 53/47 front and rear weight ratio makes it balance and tossable, but for 18K, I can get another fully prepped SC or TC car for track purposes. I don't plan on tracking my SLK more than 4 times a year. The SC just seems a bit pricey.

Yeah, with all the members joining the AMG family, I was tempted to sell mine and order a 55 for Euro Delivery, I missed Germany and a great excuse to go on vacation but every time I jump into my 350 and start rolling thru gears, it reminds me of why I didn't get a 55 to began with. It really does seem fast enough when you have to shift yourself. We'll see, still have warranty so I'm not going to mess with the engine just yet.

I would wait for the Kleemann or just head north to get it Renntech. have not heard of ART in the US.

Ynot, last time I checked (like 2 weeks ago), The 55 was not available for EDP. . Also kleemann and renntech dont make a SC for the 350 yet, so it seems more like choice of attrition.

Also ART seems to be doing well in europe, just by reading a lot of their press coverage and by looking at some of the show coverage they have gotten.

U may not have heard anything good about them, but you havent heard anything bad either!

SLK350 can beat a 350Z usually. Mostly driver, but i believe the SLK has edge. (not trying to be biased just from experience).

Sound, get a piecha exhaust, or any of the other exhausts like kleemann or carlson and your car will sound sick. If not better then an AMG.

I didn't think so either, but a member here is going to pick his up in Germany in the next few months, he got the 7% EDP discount, hope he chimes in. in2wwww something like that.

Yes, I know they don't make one yet, but they eventually will, the Kleemann one is in R&D right now, when they are ready to release it, they will. Renntech needs to follow to compete.

Yep, never heard of ART, good or bad.
