Default Supersprint installed

Here are some pics of it getting installed, will get better pics with the dslr camera later... this will do for now.

1. OEM stock exhaust getting prepped.

2. Last time I will ever seen the rear with dual tips.

3. Look how much bigger the tips are on the supersprint compared to OEM

4. Supersprint exhaust getting ready..

5. Supersprint installed

6. Side view

7. Rear view, ready to come down

Couldn't snap any pics with it down on the ground, my digicam ran out of battery.

Looks nice. Who enlarged the cut out for the twin exhaust tips? Looks like a good job. I would have been most concerned about that part of the installation. Nice mufflers and twin tips.

Beautiful work. They did an excellent job on cutting out the lower bumper cover to accomodate the twin tips on each side. The exhausts look mean and aggressive.

Looks like they cleaned the undersides of the car real well too.

-1-: I originally went to Bud's muffler's, they install exhaust systems for exotics, very nice shop, they were honest and said they don't want to touch and ruin a beautiful car, they told me to go to a body shop to get the rear bumper trim first. I took it to Diamond autobody and the person I wanted to work on my car was Chris, he was busy and didn't have the right tools to do it, I didn't trust anybody else at the bodyshop to do it.

Then I went to Discount Mufflers referred by another mechanic I knew. I was confident as the owner of Discount muffler's has been cutting and trimming bumpers to fit exhaust for 35 years. I was watching him do it the whole time. He was being very careful with my car. He'd did a great job. Looks like it came like this from the factory.

etyu: yes they did, I made sure it was perfect before I let them go , they were very professional, they'd made sure I was totally satisfied before I got it back, the shop closed at 5:30pm but ended up working on it until 6:00pm. It looks great.

Congrats Ynot! It looks amazing. Welcome to the Quad Exhaust Tip Club

Really give the car the true roadster look it deserves and really puts the stock tips to shame.

It will need to burn in for a week or so of driving time. May take a little longer depending on the # of miles you cover per week, but once it does... you will notice a difference in the tone and volume.

It may also be smelly for that first week while it burns up all the oils and such inside. So this is normal.

NG4L, I agree, after the install, it does put the OEM tips to shame, I was hoping that it'll get a little bit louder after a week, it's nice now but sounds a bit soft from inside the cabin. My bro said it's perfect from the outside.

N4PWJ, if you are using IE, right click and show picture, if that doesn't work, right click, then properties, copy the url and open another window and paste that url, I notice that it's not coming up either but opening another window helps.

Look at pic 4 (that's the passenger side), it only comes with the rear mufflers and the tips. $1,500 for both rear mufflers. A bit pricey IMO, but what isn't for european cars. Looks fantastic, the whole exhaust system goes for $2,800 but isn't street legal.

wow, that's quite a deal... compared to the $2900 eisenmann system... where did you get that price? you can pm me if you don't want to expose it... thanks for the info though... Your car is one of the best non amg SLK... or should I say among all R171 the only thing that you need is only big brake kits... get some brembos or stock 55 amg brakes

thanks for the compliments guys, d23, the eisenmann exhaust is a bit pricey, the sound is totally different, eisenmann sounds very racey, supersprint is very soft compared to it, the amg and piecha exhaust is somewhere in the middle. Eisenmann retails for $2,900, when I enquired about it, you can get it for about $2,100. Alroumi is right, I got it at euroelites, they were running a special, it usually price around $2,000, I think Piecha exhaust gives you the most value for the money.

I thought about BBK's but the stock ones are actually pretty good, my next mods are going to be engine bolt ons, possibly headers, reflashed ecu. But I think I'm going to spend more money modding myself. I'm going to signup for all the track days my schedule allows. Supercharger after the warranty is over maybe, don't want to mess with the warranty.

Default How to make your SLK perform better

A really nice job. I love the look. I am thinking to see if I can have the stock AMG exhaust fitted to my 280. Yes, I wish I had a 350 but I believe the rear piping is the same diameter for both engines. From what I have read the sound is more aggressive than the stock 280 which is what I want without being too aggressive, at least I hope that is the case. The dealer says its up to me to have the rear cut outs done at a body shop or add the AMG panel and also have a body shop paint it. Such a pain whay they can't take care of the whole package. I have not checked out Brabus yet,but I really prefer the look of the AMG ovals. I also like your exhaust but I'm afraid to veer away from a genuine Mercedes part for possible warranty issues, and again another reason to have the dealer do the work. I plan down the road to have the ECU upgrade. I don't think I can justify supercharging. Also plan to change the wheel tire combo when the 16" set wears out.

Any comments or if I am wrong in anything I have stated would be appreciated.

Gayle280, sounds good to me, the AMG exhaust is a pain to install as it's different then the ones for the 350 and 280, check with saslk before doing the install, it might not be worth it. The piecha one looks to be directly bolted on and sounds great. I wouldn't worry about warranty, when push comes to shove, and they deny you warranty, threaten to take them to court, I have not heard anyone lose a case with aftermarket exhaust. Yeah it's a pain to get the rear panels trimmed. I had to take it to several places before I got mine done. saslk brought the AMG rear bumper b/c he didn't want to cut his, that's another option.

ECU reflashed will give you ~15hp/15lb-tq but WILL VOID WARRANTY, if your dealer finds out, it's one reason I have not done it. It's a cheap way to get those extra ponies. Yes, the price of a supercharger is quite steep, almost doesn't make sense. Nope, continuing doing your homework on wheels and tires, there's many to choose from.

You are right, but it won't be perfect until I get AMG front bumper, AMG brake kit, comand, Brabus roll over bars, custom interior leather in red and some little stuff... And sometimes maybe once in 2 month I am thinking about buying a Z4 3.0 and modifying the car, twin turbocharge it or buying an E46 M3 and twinturbocharge M3. Am I addicted to speed, no. But I am addicted to modding... And those BMW's are in same price range with my SLK
