Question for slk 350 owners. Are you satisfied with your oem 4pot brakes (front)? Has anybody got photos of the calipers? I am thinking of replacing the indifferent front brake setup of my 200k with the 350's calipers/disks. They are a direct bolt on as far as I know, but would like some input as to how good the setup is from 350 owners. Thanks in advance (I do not know if 280's use the same brake setup so excuse me if you do, I am no snob )

| The 280 have smaller brakes compared to the 350 and after Service A yesterday, the technician states I have 40% left on the pads (only after 7700 miles). I'm thinking of the same (switching at the least the front brake asembly to those of the 350 when the discs and rotors are worn); I just don't know if the OEM 16" wheels have enough clearance for the 350 calipers. Any feedback from experienced members is appreciated. Happy New Year ierax!

| Clearance is the major player here guys. Its do-able for sure obviously there's cost involved but not a silly amount unless you have to replace wheels and then the costs kinda spiral

I already have the 350's 17inch wheels so no problems with clearance. You are right in mentioning this Dan,though, thank you. I just wanted to know whether the 4caliper brakes of the 350 (brembo sourced I think) were good enough for fast road use. I do not fancy paying silly money for the brembo gt kit . And if anybody has upgraded his 350 brakes for something bigger and wants to get rid of them give me a shout . In any case ,give us your personal opinion on them. I have read good reviews on them but such reviews cannot possibly compare with an slk forum seal of approval.Happy new Year Etyu , and Happy New Year with health and prosperity to all forum members! ![]()

Here's an old pic, ![]() Do it, not only will it look good but will brake better. Euroelites is running a promotion on brembo brakes, might want to check that out, the price might be cheaper. http://www.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=174967

I am satisfied, too. Sorry, no need to upgrade for me. ![]() After Ynot's very nice 19-inch-wheels my 17-inch-winter-wheels. ![]() Just to explain the importance of clearance. You see, a smaller size isn't possible. By the way in Germany a "sport package" is available since autumn of last year. Beside some other gadges you can order the 350 breakes for the 200 and 280. How come? Perhaps this option will be offered in other countries, too.

Very happy with my brakes. Traffic in North Dallas tends to be very hectic, with good roads where people a.) speed; b.) run red lights and pull out into traffic. Obviously, with those conditions I think the front brakes really work well, having had to stop quickly. Also racing a friend with S4 @ stage 3, I have run out of road and hit the brakes hard, with no noticeable give.

I was very satisfied with my 350's brakes, in any circumstance. The ones I have on my 55AMG Performance Package 36 cm diam. with 18" wheels are incredibly fantastic

At our SLKs (200K & 280), from what I know the two most reliable brake upgrade options are the following: - C32 AMG brakes (345x30mm front, 300x22mm rear) - SLK 350 brakes (330x28mm front, 290x10mm rear) (if I'm wrong at the dimensions please correct me) I will probably install C32 AMG brakes as the price is very close to SLK 350 brakes...

Thanks for the info Baron7700.I am after some used 350 calipers ,but I have been unable to source them yet. They cost too much brand new . I think it will be money well spent once I can source the brakes and install them with some Goodridge hoses and decent brake fluid.

That'll defenitely be an upgrade I'd do if I had the SLK200K! Performance-wise the brakes perform very well on the SLK350 so they'd be more than great for the performance of the smaller 1.8lt engine. I don't know though how the extra weight will affect performance! I don't think it'll be noticable. I say, GO FOR IT! .
