supersprint or not???

euroelites is running a promotion on supersprint exhaust, the price is decent compared to retail, supposed to have a little more throatier sound than stock, quad oval tips, I've seen the original supersprint dyno with just the exhaust fitted, no hp gain, so it's mostly for cosmetics, looks and sound, unless you buy the supersprint headers, combined will yield 10.5 hp gain. If I ever decide on a supercharger then those mods will definately be worth it but as of now, no FI plans, what do you guys think, sounds and looks could be had for a 1/3 of the price with other alternatives.

Thought about it and I am going to place an order for the Super Sprint X pipe 2mrw at the local dealer.

I don't know if they make one for the SLK55 yet, but for the SLK350 it's $1500 and no hp gain.

Ynot, 1,500 dollars is quiet cheap and superspring is known to be quiet exspenisve due to italian manufacturing etc.

I say do it, It iwll make the car look more aggressive from the rear(Bigger ,Wider tips) and It will sound better.

I just came from the Supersprint dealer, I finally ordered the X pipe which replaces the centre muffler of the SLK behind the twin exhaust mufflers, hopefully the X pipe will be here in 2-3weeks.

Stay tuned and to owners of SLK55 that were asking for its cost, Its 864.723 USD.

If I like the sound of the X pipe, I am going to order the Super Sprint Mufflers
Hopefully which cost 2,767.11 USD (OUCH)

By Late May.

That's fine, I thought you had a list that you can refer to, it's a done deal, I'm waiting for shipping cost as their shipping dept is closed for the weekend, will look something like this but with chrome tips.

$1,500 for just the rear mufflers isn't too bad.

I think it is quite the same (+/- 1 to 2 mm).
Only the mufflers will be exchanged.

I attached photos of a friend's 350 with Supersprint quad tips. Ynot, your photograph shows the Carlsson exhaust. The tips are a little bit squeezed. But I think it is also produced by Supersprint.

The sound is getting more thoatier as you have described. But you must keep the revs above ~3,500 and the engine must be charged/loaded by acceleration to hear it. The Supersprint is quite comfortable and not louder than stock while cruising with constant speed.

At the end of "Baureihe R171" are three files of the above shown 350.
But I think they don't give a correct impression of the real sound because of the surrounding noise.

(Short translation:
ESD = Endschalldämpfer = rear muffler
Serienauspuff = stock exhaust
I guess the rest is clear by itself)

Local Supersprint dealer called me, saying that the X pipe will take a month and a week to arrive, SuperSprint said they are out of stock and are producing more since many orders had been in this week!, I think my threads at mbworld influced those modification freaks to get this

Anyways, I will keep you guys updated on the status of the X pipe.
