| Oh yeah sure buddy i have been meaning to talk with you any way about clutch packs. I was told by MBUK they would not fit so i did not try and do an install because the setup costs quite a lot of money and i would not be able to send them back if something went wrong the 55's where modded instead. With the tranny the new one arrived and was taken to pieces the main parts of the setup where then replaced with parts from a local company that where made from titanium so thats the sun gears, the ring gear and the planet carrier, the clutches and bands where also replaced and so where both the input and output shafts the torque converter was also toughened up however since it is bypassed most of the time the big issue was working with clutch packs as you know the part of this tranny that is loaded most of the time. To decrease shift times the operating pressure was increased you can do this with just a few mods to valves and software since it control most of it that means that the shift valves are actuated quicker allowing for the shorter change times but it does mean increased wear and tear but thats something you expect when doing jobs like this. It was basically a strip out of all the load bearing parts and a replacement of them all with stronger parts.

| could the company that made the parts for you ... make them again easily? I'm wondering if it would make sense for me to just order everything you did and put them in my tranny. Would it be possible for you to pm pricing? |

| I can sure ask them mate no problems at all. I know its not something they do very often and they bitched and moaned about mine but now they have done it once they should know what to do. To be honest all the stuff i fitted to mine i think is a little overkill that was brought on because it was my tranny that failed first but some of the tranny mods its had would be a good idea for you i am sure. Might be worth asking Brabus also i know in the UK they do (or at least used to do) a tranny mod maybe they do it in the US also? Are you having probs with yours? I will dig out the invoice and get you prices OK mate.

i remember a couple of years ago, Renntech used to beef-up trannys for around $2500 USD (using your oem tranny).... it would basically include everything needed so that the tranny could withstand increased torque pressures...etc. This was back when the R170s and W208 CLKs were out.... im sure they have something simillar today for the newer cars, have you ask them about it? | |

| Do you guys know about the Brabus/Renntech SLK55 project... it involved inceasing engine's displacement and then supercharging it with the final result of ~650hp and sub 11 second 1/4 mile times. They did extensive tranny work to that car, so I would definitely contact Brabus and see what they tell you. |
