| I have a quick question....I have a 1998 SLK 230. Ive read about the MAF relocation process, printed pictures and procedures....my question is, can PVC pipe be used to create a new, or possibly a small transition pipe rather than buying the 2002 version pipe? Thanks, Glen |

| Heres what I did...I removed the MAF section and the solid plastic pipe. I moved the MAF up to the top, then reversed the solid plastic pipe so the long straight section runs vertically connecting to the lower metal pipe by the radiator. To get the solid plastic pipe to fit into the bottom pipe I needed to shave the lip off the solid plastic pipe....after doing that it fit snuggly into the lower section. The lower section also has clamps that were used to hold the MAF section in place. I wanted to use those clams with the new setup, so I created two small L shaped metal brackets and used a hose clamp to attach them to the plastic pipe. I was then able to use the clamps, clamping them on to the L brackets. I know this might be confusing, I appologise for that...but, I didnt understand why you couldnt use the parts that were there to make this change and if so, I didnt want to destroy the old parts just in case I needed or wanted to put it back the way it was. It seems to be working fine....I dont know I notice too much of a change, but at least I know the MAF is where it should be. |
