| Due that I don't have a 230 or even a 320....does the pulley kit actually make a large difference in your cars????

remember that the 230 is a 4 cylinder supercharged engine, so a pulley kit on the 230 is like adding a pulley kit on the 32'..... it increases Boost levels. So a 25-40HP gain is easily obtained. On the V6 320, when adding a pulley kit (i have it...evosport) all you are doing is "underdriving" the crank pulley, alternator & waterpump).... it shows 10hp gain in the dyno in the REALLY low rpms.... (1-3K), so is the kind of power gain that will make a little difference & after that you just get used it...

| How hard was it to do the upgrade from ASP? any additional costs besides what you get directly from them in the kit? I think the website said about $650 for the kit right? |

| Go to ASP Racing http://www.aspracing.com/frame.htm .. and then under 'street pulleys' select 'Imports'. Scroll down to Mercedes and you'll see the kit for a '98 - '00 C230 (includes pulley, MAS relocation pipe, plugs, fuel pressure regulator and belt). It should fit a 98 SLK. I had a similar kit on my '99 (from Linh) and it worked great. A little pricey @ $1,200! Kit #ASP331320 |

| Hi Richard In short you put a smaller pulley on the blower to increase it's rpm. By doing that you increase the blowpressure which gives you more omph........ I have a kit on my '96 230K together with some other stuff, and it reads 240 PS/350NM on the dyno ![]()

| Awesome Thanks any idea what type of HP increase one would see with that kit? it doesn't list it on the site.. Either way if it's more than 5-10 it's worth it i figure (and it's an easyish mod to get me started) |

and a pulley kit can't be used in your 350. But you can get a blower.... http://tinyurl.com/2stuxe ![]()

So a "blower" is a fan to blow air into the intake of a normally aspirated engine? A pulley kit is a smaller pulley to increase the rpm of the bower? ![]()

| Not exactly a fan..... It's an air compressor also called a blower or a supercharger http://tinyurl.com/2vwgsq By increasing the RPM's of the compressor you force more air into the motor. To get more RPM's you need a smaller pulley on the compressor or a bigger pulley on the crank, or a combo of those two. I've think I read somewhere that the compressor in the SLK 230 can take about 16000 RPM's By putting a compressor in the SLK320 AMG gained 136PS/140NM which became the 32AMG.......

| I've heard of some stories about kompressors that blow up after using pulley kit since the kit increases kompressor's rpm .Does anybody know anything about it? I don't want to put the kit and after a month to pay for a new kompressor unit! Is there any guarantee from kit providers? |
