A change in direction...

Well after a lot of consideration, and a couple close calls on picking up something else, I've come back full circle to AMG, if not an SLK55. Was in to the local dealer to spec/order a new C63. It's a few months away yet, but that works into the origional plan too of not picking something up right away only to have to store it for the winter. Plus it'll give me some experience with the new 6.2L engine before an SLK63 arrives a few years down the road.

CONGRATULATIONS,

You've clearly made the right choice and if your still into modifying you can get the Kleemann kit for the C63 which pushes output to 542hp.

So what colour did you go for, did you test drive one yet ?

Thanks Mohammed, ordered the car in Fire Opal (red) with Alpaca grey interior, Premium package and media interface kit. Waffled over the Performance package, but decided to pass on it after talking with a couple owners on another site - that setup is very firm and with our cratered roads, I was afraid it would be a bit too extreme for a DD sedan around here. As for Kleeman, this one will remain stock...I think *L*.

You cant fight the temptation modify it and if you can those 5 spokes arent that great change them for the multispoke pp package wheels.

Congratulations on the car you will love it as the seats are the same ones on the CLK63 BS, the front structure of the car as well.

Although a different experience than the SLK, I'm sure it'll be an entertaining ride in it's own right Mohammed. Another big plus is switching to a sedan gives she-who-must-be-catered-to the warm and fuzzies, and earns me big time brownie points for further down the road!

Congratulations Bill. Perhaps there could be a C63AMG section sometime later. Are the cornering characteristics of the C63 at speed just as good and firm as the SLK55? Do post some piccies of the ext and int like in your details section of the SLK 55.

Oh there'll be lots of pics again no doubt Eddy *L*. Can't comment on the handling directly just yet as I've never driven one - I live in a small market and none around here yet (did get to flog a rwd C350, and was pleased with the overall size and feel of that model). That's good though as I'll have the first one in the province, and probably the only one for some time to come

I've been in an C63 and I can tell you it feels 8/10 of an SLK55, its extremely enjoying to drive it on a daily basis.

The esp can be switched off completely without any interference, The steering wheel is very thick and padded, the seats are supportive but still comfy.
