I remember listening to and watching him for over 30 years. My first album was a gift from my favorite uncle. He picked me up one day in Baltimore and we drove around town in his Camero listening to "The Seven Words You Can't Say on National Television". It was on 8-track tape!! I nearly pissed myself laughing, and will never forget that day.

He was the first host of Saturday Night Live, the Hippy-Dippy Weatherman, provided YEARS of great HBO specials, had incredible live shows, wrote well discussed books, was the subject of Supreme Court rulings and, ultimately, was a force reflected in my own approach to life.

He was brilliant, provacative, funny and he will be missed.

Mental note: Will all my Carlin LP's to the grand-kids (but not till they turn 16).

Mental note #2: Explain to my grand-kids what an LP and turntable are, then buy them one.

to many sad days these last few years ----- have seen to many of my heros --- and other greats fall by the wayside --- I certainly understand your feelings --but they are never really gone until we forget them , so have heart for they will live on

A sad day indeed, loved his stuff, especially the way he delivered it! I think I have that 8-track somewhere, probably in my parent's storage room.

About three years ago while enrolling our son in UNLV we saw George at a show there in Vegas. All my family members are big fans (Ok, we’re a little twisted), and my wife wrote a note to give to the Materdee to pass on to George. My son and I told my wife it would just be tossed in the trash… To my shocking surprise we received a personalized, autographed photo made out to “The crazy Bradburn’s, Steve, Gina & Alex, Stay Cool – George Carlin” It’s framed and hanging proudly in our office. Not only was he a great comic, but a man with a touch of class! He will be missed…
