Default mercedes benz club card

are you guys members to any local clubs?
do you have, and do you use the card?

came across it as i was trying to secure some ferry boat tickets greece-italy-greece for later this year,
and the operator asked me whether i am a member or not? there is apparently a small discount in the
cabin price for members.

pls let me know what you think...

thanks/brgds

The two guys (Gottlieb Daimler (left) and Carl Benz (right)) remind me of my first credit card which I still own. Don't laugh, it's only eight years ago and the fee was nothing because of driving a Mercedes.
But club? What is the advantage or benefit? I am member of the "club" of two airline groupes, a well known American hotel chain and three rental car companies. You can collect points to get cheaper special offers or may buy items out of their store.

I'm a member and officer in Mercedes Benz Club of America. We have local chapters, numerous fun activities, and a bi-monthly magazine called "The Star". We have periodic loyalty programs of rebates on car qurchases for members. I got a $2000 rebate when I bought our new SLK 280. Dues are $45 per year. Our memership cards are not as attractive as the ones in the post above, but they are nice.

I'm also a member of the MB Club of America [local section, Fort Worth, Texas]. Agreed regarding the attractiveness of our cards, but the benefits are good, so who cares what the card looks like, huh?

I enjoy the get-togethers we have, too. Just this past weekend we did the Children's Charity event at Texas Motor Speedway. Got to drive my SLK around the track. Was fun, even though they wouldn't let us get faster than 115 mph!

Mike:

We are in the Central Oklahoma Section. and I had the opportunity to meet with a number of your members from Ft. Worth (and perhaps you) weekend before last (May 16 -- 18) at our Regional meet at Grand Lake, Oklahoma. As you may know, events included lots of meals and social occasions, a road rally with nice prizes, a visit to the Starbird custom car museum, and a visit to an antique Packard museum. Great event! Hope I met you there

Also, your Ft. Worth Section is well known for its level of activity and quality of events.

Hey there,

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make that meeting, although I had hoped to. Sounded like it was going to be a good time. Next time, we have a regional meet, we'll have to meet up and talk. Looking forward to it.

For SLK and especially for international posters here, the following is a link to some pics taken by the Ft. Worth section, which show a few of the Mercedes Benz Club activities here in the US.

Thanks. Our section President does those after every event (usually has them posted on the website the next day). It's been a lot of fun with more to come.

I recently joined the Phoenix/Scottsdale "Desert Stars" section as well as the San Diego section. Adding the additional section membership was only $15 more a year. I have already received the first newsletter from each. Surprisingly, the local Desert Stars chapter seems to have more interesting and plentiful trips and activities. I would have thought San Diego would have had more events.

I used my membership card recently for some parts and gifts at the MB dealer here and received 10% or 15% off my purchases. Seems like membership is pretty good deal to me. We are looking forward to going on one of the weekend sectional trips in the future.

Not all sections of the Mercedes Benz Club are equal. The Fort Worth section seems to have an activity every week. In contrast, the Alamo section in San Antonio exists in name only!

In the last four years, I have spend about $180 in dues, and have received about $4000 in discounts, prizes, and such. I asked my financial adviser if he had an investment for me with that rate of return. He only laughed.
