They do the same in the UAE, at least in the UK the cameras have bright yellow frames so you can see them from a further distance.

...or it could be that the bobby's ()wife participates in the royal ascot, and he stopped for a leak after dropping her and their horse off at the racecourse for a training session.

The ba$tards!

The problem is people support them, its one thing to have a fixed camera painted yellow and properly marked so everythings fair but to be hiding them like this is taking the piss, i know the if your not breaking the speed limit you wont have a problem but they will get you for being like 1mph over and since camera's have no intelligence you could simply be slowing down from an overtaking maneuver and still be snapped.

Its all just easy policing, they literally wont do anything that requires effort so about the only thing is that enforced are the traffic laws.

Anyways in the SLK I'm either going slow enough to get given a good race by a tortoise or going fast enough that they can't even ID the model let alone the registration plate and most of the time its the former when i'm on a public road.

Didn't look like anyone even got flashed.

The cameras here (Germany) are unmistakable when you get flashed...bright red! And at night everyone one behind and half a block away knows you got nailed!

I've made it a habit to not drive more than 10 clicks over the posted speed limit after I stopped and asked a Polizei if I got flashed when I know I wasntr even close to being over the posted limit. He told me they set it to flash 14 kph over the limit.

Very nice examples! And I understand the opinion about relaxed driving in Northern America. But every coin has two sides.
Kevin is right, the paying and discussions are starting about 10 km/h too fast. It depends on the officers.

Here some hiding and "yellow" boxes examples from the fast drivers' paradise Germany.
So some strange parking cars might measure something ...

we have red light cameras in my area and i'm happy about those (they really do help reduce crashes). we don't have speed cameras and i'm REALLY happy about that.

We have the camera's set at 20kmh above the speed limit, normally if the speed limit is 120kmh it will catch you at 141kmh.

The problem is they are on lenient about this as short list of the new prices for traffic violations, effective 1st of May 2008. Some of these prices are ridiculous, I’d rather they didn’t give us a raise and keep the old prices. I guess this is a way of taking back what they pay you.

Smoking while driving = 50KD

Talking on mobile while driving = 50KD

Kid in passenger seat = 50KD

Not wearing seat belt = 50KD

Passing a red light = 250KD

Speeding = 250KD - 500KD

Don’t get me wrong, these rules are for our safety and I love the one with the kid in the passenger seat; But don’t you think it’s a coincidence that we all just got a raise in our salaries? Either that or the MOI wants some decent highway patrol vehicles! Remember the last time you paid your tickets? Multiply that by 5 to get an idea of what to expect next year.

The car-cam must be catching a lot of people because the Ministry of interior has now expanded their coverage to include a second car-cam on my daily route that I take to commute to work. The original car-cam that caught me speeding 21 times was located just before McDonalds on the way back to the capital city (Kuwait City) , whilst the new car-cam is located just before Fuddruckers which is also in the same route back to home. If only it was possible to invest in these cameras then I would have a strong return on investments daily due to the drivers who dont notice there is a camera in the boot of the car.

In addition these cars also have people who have radars that tell the policmen later down the route which cars are speeding so that they can stop them, it once happened to me that I passed by going around 150kmh just to surpass traffic and I noticed that everyday after 3pm they start the checkings and stop people.

Yes at speeds of 100 didnt realize the 80kmh speed limit, I later on knew that there was a camera in the car as it doesn't flash when you are caught.

No as these were before the new rules and regulations were put, you know how you are tired when you come back home and sometimes you lose focus on the speed not like I was going very fast it was only 20kmh above the limit; that was okay as also some other motorists were doing the same thing, however I now know the tricks of the trade and able to figure out between a hidden camera or radar.

...and i thought there were some strict laws in force in yr region over there. had i been caught for speeding 21 times in greece, they would have crucified me in public in the main square, and they would have crucified my car next to me as well ...
(or i would have bribed some high end official, and none of the above would have happened ).

relevant music vid posted in off topics/song dedication thread!
