Default Do you golf?

I just started golfing. Really bad with my short game. Takes me 3 putts to sink the ball. Saw these mallet/blade putters out there. Thinking they may help with my aim/speed. Anyone have experience with these?

the reason that they named it, "golf" is because all of the other four letter words were taken!
i have an odyssey two ball putter, the design helps line up putts.

i dunno, i use a plain old flat putter...it has one line on the head, indicating where to aim...hahahahha...

basically, just pick a putter that clearly indicates the direction you should swing it in, and practice maintaining a straight even tempo stroke. fancy putters just help you spend money.

then again, i'm not too great on the green either. I'm AWESOME at mini-golf though!

I have a Rife putter which is a mallet design. Like the Odyssey, it helps line up the ball. The mallets tend to have more weight to them so they can be a little tricky to master at first till you get used to the increased contact power. I do prefer them over blades however.

Thanks for the inputs!

Was looking at the Odyssey putter... really like how it helps with the ball alignment. Guess I'll pick up one of those or something.

Sid - I'm an avid golfer... I have been playing since I was about 7 years old. I'm a big fan of the Scotty Cameron putters. They are excellent. Give them a shot, but I own a Bettinardi putter that I actually got from Mercedes, and it's a GREAT putter. I love it. You should just practice putting more often and learn how to read greens. Some people rely on a caddy to help them, but once you learn how to properly read a green, you will begin to shave strokes off your score like you wouldnt believe.
See below for a link to the Bettinardi site. Best of luck on your game this summer!

I own the BBX - 80 putter with the Mercedes logo on it.

im about a 13 handicap.

Go to a yard sale that has some clubs, and pick some out that you like the feel off if your just starting, itll get you an idea of what you like on courses and what not.

Putting and chippin is about 60-75% of your score, so focus on that.

About 18 handicap here. Probably the strongest part of my game is my putting. Since I've injured my wrist, long irons especially are difficult.

Anyways, I've never been a fan of the 2 ball or 3 ball type putters. I know Odyssey makes several. I just find it hard to line up. I guess it works for some and not so well with others. Anyways, after playing several years with a standard Odyssey mallet, I've know switched to a Nike IC2015. The shaft is dark green which is designed to blend in with the green and therefore cause less of a distraction. So far, I'm pretty pleased with it. Now, we'll see if I can shave a few more strokes.

a good scotty cameron putter is what is needed.
like anything it is all about practice......a tip for putting is have your arms straight, gives you more feel and a better more fluent swing.
on tha note im away to spain in the morning to play some golf on the costa del sol!!! woohoo

My wife says we're not old enough to golf yet.
