Default Removing Teeth

Any suggestions on how to remove a tooth?

I got punched in the face trying to stop a fight and its pushed a tooth up and around from where it should be and since I've seen myself in a mirror today and my wife can't stop laughing i have 2 choices wait over a month for a trip to the dentist or remove the little bastard myself.

P.S I'm not joking here, any suggestions really are appreciated.

Come to the US, where you can see a dentist this afternoon.

Removing it yourself depends on how bad the damage is, if you have a picture (seriously) I can see if it's anything like what happend to my Brother.

Otherwise I would suggest looking for an emergency dentist.

Spoke to the emergency guys, they said it was cosmetic and gave me an appointment.

I suppose in fairness it is cosmetic, it hurts but then the gum is all pushed back.

Looks like i have double decker teeth

LOL, Hey i didn't want my tech getting his arms broken.

Then I'd have to pay him sick leave and it would get expensive!

I would personally wait for the dentist.

Returned it to a more 'normal' configuration with a pliers so now its not causing me as much discomfort and i don't look daft.

Not too worried about waiting to get it pulled out now.

I was gonna suggest a bottle of malt and a pair of pliers, but if you live near a University with a dental school, they are always looking for patients/guinea pigs/ victims and you can usually get in before 'emergency' dental appointments at a practice. If you're lucky and the root hasn't been damaged too badly, the PDM should grow back, and in a few month's you won't know it's happened - just keep straightening it for the first couple of weeks if it moves.

Even though i had to take an exam in dentistry, that was 15 years ago... however, I agree with Woolly. It may not be necessary to pull it.
Good luck Dan!

It wasn't at work i was out for a beer with the tech who's a good mate of mine.

If it can get put back to normal great but basically my teeth are now on 2 levels, the one is pushed way up and was twisted around.

Its not twisted any more but its still pushed up.

AND as if that wasn't annoying enough i managed to chip another tooth today!

Thanks guys!

Based on the new chipped tooth info, I suggest you stay home in bed for the month, it's safer... Remember to drink lots of liquids; beer, whiskey, tequilla etc...

Perhaps you should invest in a gum guard

Default Just wondering ....

Does the UK have a nationalized dental service? Why is it that you weren't able to just call up a local dentist and get an afternoon appointment, same day? It is much cheaper, far more functional, and more cosmetic in the long run to save your own natural teeth whenever possible. Here in the US if something like this happened, I would call up my dentist the next morning, he would squeeze me in that afternoon, reposition the tooth, stabilize it to maximize it's chances of remaining viable, and send me on my way with a bill of $300-$400 and a followup appointment. Not such a big deal really and far, far cheaper than a lost tooth in the long run.

Yeah, you get dentists who will do work on the NHS and then some who only do private (pay as you go) work.

Problem is they are so thin on the ground that they fill up overnight and are very reluctant to even look at somebody who's not on the books.

Silly really since I'd be more than happy to pay but i guess they are just jammed from morning to night.

No private dentists locally with a slot? Problem is once a private tooth butcher gets in and start poking around, you could end up with a bill totalling £££

All the best getting sorted
