| OK as an english guy I don't think I've ever even touched a hand gun before. I've fired rifles on a range when I was a kid in the air training corps. buts pretty much my experience of guns. So I got invited with a friend today to go down to the local shop. He has like 5 guns so said there would not be a problem using his and ammo so it was going to be a cheap experience. I must admit I was a little excited and a little nervy. When I got to the shop I saw they had a Walter PPk for hire, So being the numpty I an, I figured I may only do this once I wanna use the Bond gun. So any how it was pretty rushed. Sign a bit of paper, the guy give me a 5 second operating guide of the gun passed me some ammo and off I went. After like 5 mins of nervously fooling around with the gun and the ammo in the 100 degree shooting range I realised he gave me the wrong ammo. So I'm like a bag of sweat.. Even more nervous as everytime the guy shot a cannon in the range next to me I nearlly jumped a foot in the air. and they dodge some flying copper as the sheels bounced over.. Finally got the gun armed or what ever you call it and popped a few off and all that fear dissolved away pretty quickly. I shot off 200 rounds and really had a fun time. But I'll admit all the way through the experience the noise of the cannons firing off made me feel a little Maybe it's just the fact people you dont know are so close with so much power at there will... I'm not sure I could ever have a gun in my house or I've not really lived in a place where i thought it was needed. But thats just because I really don't trust my stupid self... overall though it was great fun and really glad I did it!

| I don't own a gun but have went a couple of times to an indoor shooting range several years back. I enjoyed the Sig-Sauer 9mm the best. Not that the Beretta or Glock 19 isn't good, The Sig just fits my small hands better. Glad you enjoyed it Easty.

| I've done quite a bit of shooting (shotgun, rifle, pistol, even a Bren once) over the years but the best fun of all was in the basement of a hotel in Eilat where there was a shooting range (only in Israel could this happen ). I tried a load of different pistols includiong a revolver. They even had one of those video simulators with a screen you could shoot at showing video of people popping up from behind cover. Normally you shoot light guns at these things to calculate a score, but not here - real bullets, never did work out how it worked. It was terribly politically incorrect - all the good guys you weren't supposed to hit were women and children, and all the bad guys were Arabs.http://www.redseasports.co.il/news.php?id=27 |

| That looks crazy. No partitions between the seperate ranges.. Neabs you'll be getting the copper from the guy/gal next to you in the side of your head.

| Worse than that, one of my friends had a round jam in a Beretta and he turned round with it still in his hand to ask the instructor (an Israeli army Major moonlighting in his uniform) what to do. We all hit the deck, including the instructor |

Five guns might seem like a lot. I know some people that have MANY guns and rifles. I have three at work for protection (never had an incident in 12 years) and two at home.

| FWIW, I have never had a gun and have many friends who have none. For the out-of-towners, not everyone in the US has them. Shot a revolver once at someone's range. Also scared the crap out of me while I held it just thinking about the terrible force in it. Kinda like driving a car fast, I guess ![]() I guess the scariest part is what happens if you make a mistake. Kinda like Cheney. |

Word to the wise, don't paint everyone with the same brush. Many responsible people have guns. It's the idiots and criminals that we need to worry about. That's why I have mine. Mistakes do happen, just like the airliner yesterday taking off on a short runway. Tragic mistake. They do happen.
