Man, I live a boring life. Sorry, but I can't compete with you guys with all that excitement. NR4L - I swear, I'd die of a heart attack if I tried bungee jumping. How many times have you tried it and what was the first time like? I'm falling and I can't stop..... ****

The most excitement I get is going on the rides with visiting nephews and nieces at Six Flags Magic Mountain: Superman, Batman, Riddler, Viper.

the 2 jumps i would consider REAL bungy jumps were the one above off a bridge (actually the 1st comercial bungy jump site in the world)

And the second was this one below 134m (440ft)

Well, how to describe it... One thing about bungy and skydiving is that you do not get the "Falling Feeling" in your gut. So nothing like a rollercoaster at all. My first real jump was the Nevis 134m. The highest bungy (though i think S Africa i think might have beat it last year with 500ft if i'm not mistaken)

Here is a picture from the booklet they gave us.

They strap you up, and then you hop to the ledge. (as your feet are now bound and you can not walk) That is where the truth about yourself comes out. My thought before jumping "WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING.." followed by "No guts no glory" and i was off. That step forward was like nothing i ever felt before. Body goes into overdrive...one deep breath and you start seeing the ground coming closer, and realize... hey this is awsome!!! but when's the damn thing going to pull up! The 134m drop was SOOO LONG! Then it yanks you up... you fly a hell of a ways up, bounce around a few more times.

Since this bungy was off a cable car in a cliff, you have to then do a Rambo move and lift yourself from hanging upside down by your legs and pull a release handle. Now mind you while you are haning upside down you are secured by your belt over your shoulders and legs. The pull handle is a big red thing and once you yank it... it just unsnaps your legs and they drop causing you to swing now on your belt harness

Between the bridge jump and the 134m, i think the truely more adrenaline rush one was the Nevis... It is just a fright looking at it from the side. Never mind at the ledge. But the Bridge jump was more mix of fun and well downright terrifying at the end. The guy asked me how deep i wanted to go... so i told him to send me swimming (ya know, do it right) So the guy instructed me to jump hands forward, as i was going in deep. And tuck my head just before the water... else my face would of been splattered.

As i already did the highest, this was no biggy in terms of height. But then i didn't really think the fact that i was actually going to be hitting a surface on the way down was so bad. So the crowd was cheering as the idiot in boxers, in the middle of winter, was about to jump into some really COLD WATER.

I get up there, jump. Feels fine, till i saw that dark water coming my way... and for that split sec. in your head... it clicks... HOLY CRAP I AM ABOUT TO HIT SOMETHING. You see that water coming, and its not pulling you up... once again one deep breath before the plung, and that water's temperture knocks the living hell out of you, and as you get pulled out, you scream to be happy that you are alive

Sorry for all the reading... but there is just NO way to describe all this shorter.

thanks easty.

I feel the same every day now. Everything is sooo slow (till i get behind the wheel of the SLK that is) then things improve very quickly

I have tons more of the other stuff i've done, but won't crowd the thread with just mine. Really interested in other people experiences and post mine throughout

i tried skydiving too! i did 3 solo jumps, LOVE it...but it's an expensive and inconvenient sport....i've been trying to go back out and doing it again, but just haven't been able to. waking up at 4AM driving and 3.5 hours out, waiting on weather conditions, checking equipment, refresher lessons (as i'm a beginner)....for each jump...and i've been out there 3 times without a single chance at jumping because of weather too....had to drive back...guys, if you get the chance to do solo jump, you have to do it...at least half of the thrill was from relying on yourself and being by yourself in the sky...i don't think tandem gives you the whole experiance. i'll try to get some pictures of me from my first jump...funny thing is, i can't remember anything EXCEPT my jump everything surrounding it, the driving, the waiting, the flight up...everything is a blur focused around that moment right as i jump out the plane.

Was in the Peace Corps in West Africa.

Made a trip to Zambia for a month when I lived in Ghana. Went for a walking safari for a week in the bush in Luangwa valley. Walking in a line of 8 people we scared a rhino who apparently caught our scent, but by the time he smelled us and started running away from us, we were pretty much beside him and he was running toward us, not away. Didn't see the huge animal until it popped out of the tall grass, but we heard him coming. He was headed right for the middle of our line, but veered off at the last minute.

That makes your adrenaline pump.

And then there was a trip to Niger. We were riding in the back of an open land rover sitting on a 55 gallon drum of gasoline and another of water. Driving at night in the desert, the driver wasn't paying enough attention and a tree was blocking a bridge over a river. When he finally saw the tree (battery was dying so lights were dim), he had to decide whether to crash into it or go over the embankment. He decided to go over the 20 foot embankment and into the river bed.

That is a pretty exciting thing to do unexpectedly in the dark. Luckily the vehicle didn't flip and the river was dry. Spent the next hour or so leaning over the cab with a flashlight trying to find the edge of the dirt road in the desert because the flashlight was brighter than the car's lights.

Then we finally got to our destination. We slept in a bed on the veranda only to wake up in the morning and realize that there were wild animals all around us! Mostly vervet monkeys, but I think we should have slept in the room.

Then we went walking out in the bush, by ourselves with no guide or guard (none available there). Saw elephants, water buffalo, antelope, monitor lizard, baboons and monkeys, and almost stepped on a small antelope as we climbed down a rocky section toward a river.

Managed to find our way back to where we started which is always a good thing.

Got back and the Peace Corps guy who ran the place asked if we saw any lions because he had just recently been treed by one. Said when he goes out, he carries a gun.

Ah.. Those were the days

, I'm not far behind, man skydiving and bungy jumping looks like fun, my cousin (a girl) recently did both and said that I have to give it a go. I might do it someday just for the experience. My closest experience with bungy jumping is at six flags where they strap you in at the waist, pull you up a few hundred feet, then let go, feels like flying. I guess it's nothing to brag about.
