| The new BMW M3 sure is awaited by many and seems to look good from the pictures. It does 0-60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds and the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds according to Car & Driver magazine. I am not a BMW fan but the M3 is respected by many and I cannot disagree. However members on the SLK boards have done 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds in their SLK55's. According to Car & Driver in their previous test the SLK55 did 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and reached the 1/4 mile in 12.7 Here is the link to the test, enjoy the pics http://www.caranddriver.com/previews...08-bmw-m3.html

| I hate the interior, talk about BORING... I really wanted the new M3 to workout. I've been itching to get back into an M3, it's really different than the SLK. I don't mind the front and side, but the rear and interior really gets me down. Looks like I'll be waiting for another new model. Thanks for sharing Alroumi.

| Dang I hope those numbers improve when they test it on their normal track because that isn't much better at all than a 335i Coupe and it has 114hp more and should be a tiny bit lighter with that CF roof. Anyway seeing as how I don't hve 70g's for one I think I will continue driving the 55. For some reason those pics didn't make the new M3 stand out from the 335 like the E46 M3 did from a 330Ci. I mean at least to me, in those pics. |

| It weights 3,500 in standard trim, I guess there wasnt the so called "Substantial savings".

| I guess now a days with all the electronics and stuff gone are the days of 3000lb cars. Unless you get a Elise or something purpose built. |

| I too really want the M3 to work out. I haven't read the article yet but I'm hoping it's a solid performer. If not, there's always the C63 which seems to have good potential. Just read it: It did mention that the track conditions weren't ideal and the times should get better. Also, I found it interesting that it only has single piston brakes. Lastly, the exhaust does sound good.

| With the exception of maybe the new(er) M5 BMW as always used single piston brakes. If I remember right even the M6 has single piston calipers. I am not real MB savy but is the CLK the 2dr version of the C-class? I keep hearing people all over the internet compare the C-class and the M3 but to me if I was looking at one I wouldn't be interested in the other. I guess they are both smaller cars with lots of HP but one has two door and one has four. Maybe people are much different than I am but when I was looking for a used M3 I didn't even consider an EVO or STi simply because of that fact. Is there a two door C-class or a four door M3 or do people not care how many doors they have. |

| a two door C-class is the CLK. I have my eyes on the C63 AMG and I started saving up for one which around 2-3 years time I might have one in my garage. At first I wanted a 997 Turbo but its too expensive and I rented it for a day and wasnt impressed, It didnt sound good and felt not sporty. I know I am a Mercedes-Benz fan and hope to preserve what I purchase.

| I've nothing against BMW's, but I've never been a big M3 fan. Now if they stuff that engine in the Z4 M roadster at some point, that car WOULD get my attention! Unless there's an SLK63 by then!

| The e36 M3 was one of the funniest cars to drive on the road and track, the e46 feels heavy, never drove hard on that car, assume it's just as good, it's an M car, I've always been a fan but wanted something different in the SLK, no regrets, but do want to get back in one in the future, unfortunately, far future it seems, as I can't stand the boring interior which I will spend most of my time in.

| In another thread, I noted that my command system is out. What I didn't confess was that it was working until I went to the barber. While waiting to have my hair cut, I picked up the recent Car and Driver with the M3 featured on the cover. I lusted over the photos and drooled over the stats. When I left and started my loyal SLK still waiting at the curb for me, its audio system was inaccessible. That's right, it won't talk to me anymore. I should have been looking at a Penthouse magazine instead ![]() |

| U guys are killing me. The CLK is the smaller version of the CL Coupe, which isnt really based on anything. Just like the SLK is the compact version of the SL. The class has its own 2 door, the old 230 komp hatchback. My service advisor who is also the service manager, said that they are working on a 2 door version of the new c Class. I think the e46 looks better. And I agree witrh the notion that the new M 3 doesnt look considerable different from the reg 3 series this time around. That and it looks to curvy. The 2 door 4 door situation, i dont think it really matters, as the cars are put into the same class. Actually the m3 is the only one that is a 2 door in alot of the cars that are mentioned in the same breath that most people can afford. M3, C63, sti, evo, cayman, etc. e36 M3's had a four door. |

| I am crossing my fingers for a C63, I love that car. Its similar to our SLK55's but with two more seats and 2 extra doors.

| Considering im a big fan of the c55 AMG, and insurance for me at time of purchase for it was not doable, i would love a c63 amg. The 55 is what originally brought me into the benz dealership, and that catchy little SLK was sitting next to it. Good product placement i guess ![]() |

| Baron, the CLK was originally intended to be the coupe version of the E class, but due to engineering, it really is the equivalent of a 2 door C-class. The 2 models share the most out of all the MB models...same floorplan, same suspension, essentially the same interior, same electronics, etcetera... The C-coupe, is really classed as a hatchback...not a coupe. Also, BMW has been saying there will be a 4 door M3 in europe...maybe they'll release in the US as well? The C class platform is really really well designed (except for engine placement, it's a little bit short but has been mostly fixed in the new w204 platform). Performance wise, it's fair to say that the CLK is the 2 door version of the C class. |

| The more I look at the car, the more I think it will turn out nicely. Although the pics I see are done well, I have a feeling it will look better in the flesh. The same is true for the Z06. It looks okay in pics and a lot better in person. Also, I think some basic mods will make the M3 look even better. I guess I'll make my final judgement when I see one next year.
