SLK63 if it's ever made. I am still partial to hardtop convertibles.

Next car will most likely be a Porsche, 996 GT2/3, I've been lurking on 6speedonline quite a bit these days, it's looking better and better. 997 is out of my price range for now.

Currently, I'm happy with the SLK. Much can change in a year or two. Can't think of any thing else I would want.

I actually now need some sort of truck/suv because my 32 is the only car I have and I need something that I can carry things with.

Maybe:

Jeep Liberty
Nissan Murano
Landrover Freelander

Tungster,

I have a Toyota Sienna Limited van. I REALLY like it. The outside doesn't have "catch your eye" styling, but it is a luxurious, smooth, quiet, comfortable van that gets decent mileage. We usually have one fun car (obviously the SLK ) and one practical car (the van for carrying people and other cargo).

I can recommend the Sienna Limited.

Default Going Porsche, but an Air Cooled One...

My next car is a 930 Turbo, back to the air-cooled, hard to handle real Porsche for me. Lots of overstear, what I relish. Will be stripped down and full race prep, the SLK350 is my daily driver, the 930 will be a full on race car.

Since my SCCA number is 53, I may actually paint it silver and do the whole thing up like Herbie.

Yeah, the 997 is nice, I almost bought a Carrera S, but there is just something so sterile about it. The SLK's sterility is off set by the fact it is actually comfortable to be in, and cruises slowly quite nicely, so it plays the part of luxury coupe in addition to sports car.

The GT2 would be better as it is the rear drive only one, right?

Of course it would be nice to get a full race SLK, but the price / performance ratio doesn't make sense. Large entry price to then rip out all the weight, sound deadening, motors, etc.

The family truckster LS430 will probably replaced by the new Lexus LS470 Hybrid (or whatever name they have on it now.) The S-Class looks nice, but we just can't live with another Mercedes to break down and put us in logistical hell all the time.

Sideways isn't the fastest way around the track.... But it sure is the most fun!

If I had to have a minivan, it would be the Toyota Previa S/C. Supercharged, low center of gravity Mid-Engine and you can get it in screaming yellow with a spoiler and a 5-speed!

My next car won't be replacing the SLK, it will be replacing the E320. Right now I'm looking for a 64-66 or 66-68 Mustang fastback in original but fully restored condition (i.e. with no bling bling mods), no rust, a good colour, 289 V8 or bigger, and some important options (disc brakes, power brakes, power steering). There aren't so many to choose from in the UK so it may take a while to find the right car. Given the weak dollar, importing from the US might be an option too. If I find one, then the SLK will become my daily driver - at the moment it's about 50:50 between the SLK and E class.

One of my clients might have one on thier lot. If he did not disgrace it with bling rims (oh, I keep telling him!) just ask for the original wheels. He keeps them since every person who buys one hates the big rims.

www.miamikarkrazy.com

I never bought a car from them, so I can not represent the quality. I just know he has millions worth of inventory of a lot of old machines. I know one guy came from Italy and bought some cars, another guy bought some and took to Sweden to sell.

Tell them Byron the Network Guy referred you.

PS: Is it true what I heard? That people in the UK buy more convertibles then anywhere else in Europe? If so, my you are the optimist!

930 turbo is a nice track car, I gave my brother my old e36 M3 and he took it to florida to get it turbocharged, currently getting 500 rwhp on 12 lbs of boost. He's going to strip it down and make it his track car. It also makes a great daily driver.

997 is growing on me, I didn't like it at first. I guess I'm not a true porsche fanatic, was never a fan of the bug eye, when the 996 came out, that's when I started to like porsche's. And when I drove my uncle's 993 carrera that's when I knew porsche is a serious sports car. I can't imagine what the newer models would be like, if the older one was that good.

GT2/3 is both rear wheel drive, GT2 is turbocharged and GT3 is naturally aspirated. I haven't driven either but heard the GT3 is a serious track car, not very comfortable as a daily driver. GT2 is better as a DD.

Lexus are nice luxury cruisers, my dad previously owned a LS400, and it was problem free, quiet, and comfortable but doesn't have any road steering feel to it. People say MB has no handling haven't driven a Lexus yet.

I agree, I took my SLK sideways on the AutoX many times, not exactly the fastest but was the most entertaining for the crowd and myself.
