Default Share what you do for a living???

I'll start if off...

I have worked for Continental Airlines for 20+ years.
I work in System Operations at the main office downtown Houston.
I ensure the flights are Safe, balanced properly, not over weight, correct amount of fuel, etc. Once verified, I give the pilots the info they need to take off.

I drive 50 miles to work and home each day. (Plenty of time to enjoy my car!) Some people hate the commute, I actually enjoy it!

I presently work 3 long days and am off 4 days a week. Fri Sat Sun Mon Not bad days to be off!

Aircraft design. Specifically in composites in recent years. Most of my history is in military Aircraft. Tornado, Nimrod, EFA(typhoon) and at the moment JSF, Also worked on A320 and A380 for Airbus. I'm a consultant at the moment, so I kind of a prostitute of the aircraft industry. Get to work for myself and live in different places which I like. My hours are flexible and I never seem to fall into routine. Best things is I have no paid holidays so I can take time as much or whenever I want.

Board Certified Internal Medicine and general medicine, 20+ years. Facility medical director at an urgent care clinic. Work 9-10 hours a day (Mon to Fri). Work in a group practice so "call" is not bad, actually, optional at this time due to seniority.

The SLK is my daily commute car. It's my first convertible and enjoying it daily. The drive is about 9 miles to the office. I usually pick local streets going to the clinic and the freeway on the way home.

Well, I am trained as a Physicist, but only did that for a couple of years. Taught math for 3 years in the Peace Corps in Ghana. $100 per month. Does that qualify as making a living?

Then worked in a research lab at Owens Corning Fiberglas. Then switched to programming which I have done ever since. Worked for Occidental Chemical for 23 years. Now working for a small consulting and radiological services company. Primarily I work on a program that let's people build virtual tours and show components from digital still images.

Basically what I do is make computers do what someone wants them to do. Mainframes, handheld devices, desktops, you name it.

It's always interesting the people you "meet" on forums. We know very little about each other. Three questions most people have are, where do you live, how old, and what do you do? My wife and I live in Chester, VA, south Richmond. We've been married 34 year, no children (by choice, five cats, by choice). Yes, the whole family "fits" in the SLK. I'll be 56 in September. Retired Air Force, 24 years. I've been self employed since April '94, own a pawn shop. Technically, I work five days a week, but it seems like seven. Leisurely, 15 minute commute to work. I don't drive the SLK to work for obvious reasons. Three other less interesting vehicles to drive.

That is very interesting; I used to have a White Persian Cat in the early childhood days

I'm a senior technical analyst for a large corporation, monitor, install, and support large GDS (Global Distribition Systems) and CRS (Computer Reservations Systems) for the travel industries, includes hotels, car rentals, Cruise lines, and airlines. If there is a delay of flight, you guys could thank me for not fixing it fast enough, either me or my co-workers. A one minute CRS outage cost 1.5 million a minute, I feel so severely underpaid. I do a little Real Estate investing on the side, although the market isn't good at the moment, so it's not working out the way I wanted. I would like to be self-employed one day but currently only working 3 days a week and most of the time, I'm able to surf the web like I am know, so I can't seem to leave this place.

I was a law professor at Florida International University until I decided it was more fun to travel. About 7 years ago I moved to Bangkok. My wife is Thai. We have two MB's in Thailand (I drive the SLK she drives the S) and one MB (SL) in Florida. I collect antique corkscrews and I have 4 hot air balloons which I keep in France. I also have an elephant polo team (we play in Nepal and Thailand).

I took early retirement spend 38 years in the Royal Air Force then short time in the Ministry of Defence now the best job of all looking after (from time to time) my 2 week old grandson he,s great, only problem is he is forcing me to sell the SLK (one of them) and buy a bigger car, looked at the CLS but its only a 4 seater, the S is too wide for my garage might get the new E class or ML.
