Cool NoRegret Customs Puddle Light – IPO

NoRegret Customs Puddle Light – IPO
I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted a new mod or concept for everyone to dig into, so I figured with spring here it was time to break the spell.

What I have for you is an Initial Public Offering (IPO) for a custom Puddle Light Kit for your SLK and just about any other car you may have on your lot.

A good reference point will be my current kit. As you will see there are 4 LED modules. Currently each LED module contains 3 LEDs. These LEDs are the square surface mounted type. NOT the typical dome LED bulbs used for car alarms and such. Each module is a rectangle shape, with 3 LEDs in a row.

The NEW kit will be upgraded to 4 LEDs per module. However it will now be a square shaped module with 4 LEDs, one at each corner. (Please see pic attached below)

There will be 5 modules on each side. Although I feel that 4 are modules is enough for the SLK, to make the kit compatible with larger cars, I have upgraded to 5 modules. Great thing is that you can simply cut away the last module and use it anywhere else you like. Interior, dome light,… so on.

Each module is only 55mm x 55mm. The modules mount using 2 tiny screws. You can also attempt using 3M tape but I recommend using the screws since they hold 100% and leave only minimal marks if ever removed.

Between each module there will be 24” of wire. More than enough to hide, tuck way, and use on SLKs and SUVs alike. SLK only calls for around 17” of wire between 4 modules.

The kit is still in the R&D stages, however as with the Kleyman 3rd Brake Light Flasher, I am offering a few kits to anyone interested to offset production costs. These kits will be no different than the final. 98% sure.

Please note, these are not cheap LEDs used by other kits. These are Industrial LEDs same as those used in backlighting buildings, store signs, and interior design.

For the IPO the color will be white, however if in the future there is demand for other colors, Red, Yellow, Blue, Green will be available. Also a more advanced kit may also be available with RGB bulbs capable of color switching.

Puddle lights can be wired directly to your door lights, dome light, or ambient lighting as well as just a regular switch. I can assist with info on installation and best practices.

For info or interest, please drop me a PM. Reservations are limited.

Pretty cool looking. A lot of the Touring motorcycles I roll with have night time running lights and such so this is interesting.

Having said that, the color (on the web) appears to be more of a blue color vs the white of the headlights. I am sure they really are white, but I mention this because I know of a fellow motorcylist that had lights running on the side of the bike that had a blue cast to them and the California cops take a dim view of blue lighting.

I'm sure its not a biggie, just passing on first hand recon having seen the cop site the guy for having "blue lights".

The actual color is white white. Camera just took it as with a blue tint.

Side windows are not tinted at all. Again just the camera effects.

Lightbulb

--- Update ---

the first kit with the square LED modules was scrapped. modules were too big to hid under an SLK and since the 4 leds were further apart at each corner, the beam pattern was too wide on the ground.

---------------------
--- New kit design ---

1. Round LED module molds
2. 10mm thick module (easy to hide)
3. Modules in black color
4. LEDs packed closer together (tight beam pattern)
5. "Pick your design" system - Choose how many LED pods you want 1-5 per side (or more) Use the rest anywhere you like from your car to your house!
6. Waterproof interconnectors - modules form a chain, one to another (easy to replace in case a single module is damaged)
7. surface mounted design (2 small screws, or 3M double tape) - NO NEED TO REMOVE ANY PARTS TO INSTALL

LED Puddle lights kit is designed to be a universal fit, regardless of make/model of your car.

the kit is still in the last stage of production
So after the wire length is finalized, we'll see the first production of the kits.

more details to come... and sorry for the delay.

Well the great this about this kit will be that you can simply add or remove as many puddle light clusters as you want.

anything from 1 - 35 clusters can be powered on the same line... perhaps even more.

Also, with the quick connect cables, you can replace or remove clusters without any cutting or slicing into wires. idea is to keep everything weatherproof.

awesome lenny! I like the fact the new modules are black, that was one my reservations of the original design...I was going to paint them black

do you reckon these will be ready soon? I'm stopping by NYC in mid september on way to vegas for a bucks night/wedding for a friend, so if these were ready to go, will just pick up a set from you and maybe buy you a coffee or something for all your help with my mods

Actually this is completly legal. The puddle lights turn on when the car doors are opened or when the car is unlocked from the key.

You can think of it just like your interior lights that turn on.

However, obviously you can run a direct switched power to them and control them on your own, meaning in motion... and that would NOT be legal in most US States.

I will do my best to get them ready ASAP. It does however take a bit of time for my updates to the factory, then changed, then produced, and shipped to me. All in all looking at about 3 weeks minimum for that turn-around.
