Texas July 26, 2008 Saturday event

Found this on another forum and thought I would share it.

The Third Texas Mercedes-Benz Get Together is coming soon! Caravans leaving from Austin, the DFW Metroplex, and Houston will once again converge upon the midway point between Houston and Dallas on I-45 known as Centerville on Saturday, July 26, 2008 for a day filled with automotive fun! I want this to be the biggest gathering we've had to date.

The first time in 2006, we had about 40 cars, the second time in 2007, about 30 cars showed up. This time, I want to see as many cars and people as we can, lets see how many we can get and show them how we do meets down here in Texas, . It doesn't matter what kind of Mercedes-Benz you have, old, new, pristine, ragged, diesel, gas, Sprinter or whatever, we want YOU to attend so that we can have a diverse cross-section of cars and enthusiasts to enjoy the day. Got family members, friends, or neighbors who drive Mercedes-Benzes? Tell them to come on out! Caravans departing from each city will depart at a time that gives them a 12:00 Noon arrival time in Centerville. We will have a BBQ lunch in a room reserved just for us at the world famous Woody's Smokehouse on the NORTHBOUND side of I-45. After everyone has eaten, we'll head 4 miles south of town on old Highway 75 to Fort Boggy State Park for the Show and Shine! There is an admission to the state park, $2 for those age 13 and older. We will hand out awards based on People's Choice for best Vintage Model (Pre 1980), Best 1980s Model, Best 1990s Model, and best 2000-present Model. Bring the camera, PLENTY of water and maybe some sunscreen to the park because it WILL be hot, and have some fun with fellow "BenzNuts".

I went last year with my wife. It was fun.

Lots of catagories and good people. It should be a fun time if you show up.

Many older Mercedes that look like they just rolled off the show room floor and lots of daily drivers.

Hot as Heck too!!!

but that is Texas in the summer.

Looks like I will be trying to make it to Centerville for this one in lieu of the Oasis meet I was trying to arrange, although I may be a little late as that's a long drive from SA.

HAHA...I wish now that I hadn't put in for the time off. I'd be easier to call in sick that way. If I call in sick, now, though, I'll definitely get hammered!

As a very wise supervisor once told me, "if you absolutely need to be off, don't take vacation day, call in sick." I should of heeded that advise this time...

I had an unexpected thing come up with my fiancee so I have to go to dallas tonight. I'm hoping to drive over to centerpointe tomorrow but it won't be until after the caravan has already left dallas. Hopefully it'll last long enough in centerpoint that I'll be able to make it out!

Man, I wish I could go. I had previously put in to take a vacation day tomorrow, but was denied due to staffing issues. SO, I'll be patrolling tomorrow while you all are out having tons o' fun. Enjoy, be safe and post pics!
