I am sure this has been attempted before but how about getting an SLK group drive together. Depending on where people are from we can find a central meet point in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York or New Jersey. I think it would be a lot of great to see several SLK in the same place at the same time. Post your thoughts or ideas or dates and times...come on, you know it will be fun.

| Probably more likely for me more towards the spring and summer....we are just seeing the light after a tough winter of colds/flu etc....I will follow the thread. We are slowly building up numbers here in the NE...

I posted a reply on Benzworld as well. I'm surprised there aren't more meets posted. Last year I went to an Audi TT meet in the Bear Mountain State Park area. Lots of twisty roads and scenery of the Hudson valley. We started at the Tuxedo Park train station parking lot and ended at the Stadium sports bar in Garrison, NY (point 14 on the map). We stopped at 7 (scenic overlook), 13, and 14. The other points are there just so mappoint would draw the route correctly. Here is the route map we used.

My daughter won't have the car back in the NY area until sometime around late May. I'd be game for it. Tummy, it looks like you went down Bear Mountain road. It's a lot more fun going up. I took my kids on that road when they were learning to drive to get them some experience on cornering, accelerating, and braking. I had an Audi TT for a while but it got wrecked before I could take it on that road. Used to drive that road everyday when I was younger. After a while you learn there are three passing zones on the way up and two on the way down. (well, not legit passing zones but sometimes you just gotta get past the slow drivers to really enjoy the road.) I grew up about two miles away from the Sport bar you speak of. It's changed hands a number of times over the years (used to be the Bavarian Inn in one iteration) but supposed to be a good place to eat.

copperslk, I don't remember if we went up or down, but I do remember that the other drivers were going very fast and we were the slow ones. They probably have been up there before or I am just more afraid of crashing. We're planning to go back sometime this summer anyway, but at our leisurely pace. On another trip, we visited the Storm King Art Center, with many huge outdoor sculptures. Not sure if they often get new sculptures, but we're probably going to stop by again. While up there, we also wanted to go about 30 miles more and visit the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) in Hyde Park, NY. They have five restaurants on site which allow the students to practice their skills. We didn't make it last time, but maybe this summer.

Tummy, we were supposed to go to the CIA a few weeks back but they closed during the last big snow storm we had. I live about 20 minutes away from them. If you do go there you may want to make an all day trip of it. The FDR estate, Vanderbilt mansion, Mills Mansion, ValKill (Eleanor Rosevelt's place), Samuel Morse estate, Marist and Vassar Colleges and other interesting places are well within 20 minutes of the Culinary. And if you go during late August there's the Dutchess Country fair. btw, make reservations if you're going to the Culinary. I can't tell exactly from your route but did you get to stop in at West Point? Not sure how restrictive they are after 9/11 but it's a wonderful place to visit, full of historic memorabilia.

Thanks for the input. A few of us did a Bear Mountain trip last season, nice up in that area. Depending on where people are from that ride might be a choice. The May time frame is almost what I was thinking, warm enough to really enjoy the top down experience.
