Default Santa Pod UK - Sunday 13th Aug

Hey everybody. I've been really busy and not really been on the forum much, but i'm planning to attend a run in Swindon, UK on Sunday 13th Aug. It's being held at the Santa Pod Raceway and is being organised by RWUB (Run What You Brung). Details are on their sites:

http://www.santapod.co.uk
http://www.rwyb.co.uk

If you're interested in coming down, let me know so we can meet! I'm not definitely going to be there, it's my one year wedding anniversary the day before and i'm not sure what we've got planned yet as we've just booked a holiday to India for Christmas and New Years.

Have a great time chris. I did it in just over 10s and nearlly 140mph for the 1/4 once it's loads of fun.

Cheers Easty. I was looking on the net for some 1/4 mile stats for the 350 and found this from two different car review sites:

This is a seductively sporty engine that accelerates the SLK to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds - 0.2 second quicker than a Nissan 350Z Touring and a whopping 1.5 seconds quicker than the SLK320. Hang on for 13.8 seconds, and the quarter-mile will pass at 103 mph on its way to a redline-limited top speed of 161 mph."

And this off another:
Engine - 3.5-liter 24-valve twin-cam V6
Horsepower - 268
Torque - 258 lb feet
0-60 mph - 5.9 seconds
1/4 mile - 14.1 seconds @ 102 mph
60-0 mph - 126 feet
EPA Mileage - 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway

So the 1/4 mile mark for a 350 is about 14 seconds.

What are arm restraints out of interest? They say that if you're driving a roofless car then you have to wer arm restraints. I want to do a few runs with the hood down to see if there was a difference.

My times were on a Honda 1000rr bike if you were wondering why so much faster than avg fast cars. even the 55 would only do about 11.5 I think.

Yes this is a general rule for convertables. it's just so if the car roles your arms don't flail everywhere and get chopped off outside the vehicle as it's roling over. it's strange as they also make you have your windows down so this can probably happen anyhow.

That's what i thought. But windows down? That's silly. There's so much extra air flying around inside the car with the windows down, but i guess that's better than having bits of broken glass flying around.

Yes, its not just broken glass. It's also if the car roles and defroms the chassis and the door won't open. Then they can get you out through windows without breaking the glass. I've had it raining on track days so badly that they have let us close one window. It rained so bad that I had foil wrapped round my electronics on the door. to be honest though it only really came in the window when I was stood still.

Strange, in general it's the opposite on track days. The windows have to be up.

Guess it depends completely on the organisers. And they make it up as they go along. I know a club near here, part of the PCA have unique rules which they have initiated due to bead experiences. I.e someone rolled a mini so they banned them.

Here the windows have to be down so you can hear a corner worker if they have to shout for you to stop. It works well, especially when a S2000 in my class did his best to hit a tree afther going through 4 tires.

They don't have flags?
