19th August Meet UK - Page 2

Well I went to pick up my replacement SLK this morning (for those that don't know my story read here http://www.slkworld.com/general-disc...html#post32217) They were mortified to tell me that after all the problems I had with my previous SLK there was a problem with the replacement. Fortunately it is nothing serious a simple matter that they went to get the road fund tax this morning (for non UK people you need the road tax to drive the car legally) only to be refused because he DVLA computer said there was 2 V5's issued against the car (V5 is the US version of the pink slip) and because of the anomoly they would not issue the tax. Of course the DVLA don't work on Saturday so they can't sort it out until Monday.

All is not so bad though as they really are sorry this has happened they have asked if I would like to go to Germany on a factory tour! Of course I wasn't going to say no! For the sake of 2 days wait I think that's pretty good compensation.

Even with the problems I have had I can't fault my dealership (Mercedes-Benz of Eastbourne) at all. I know the replacement has already cost them a lot of money but they have bent over backwards to keep me happy.

Sorry to hear about your problem luckily its not a serious one.
A big well done to your dealership for looking after you so well and sorting you out with the factory trip.

Here's hoping all goes well for you next week when you go to pick up.

wowoowow you are in Eastbourne! I love the pub restaurant in Beachy head! nice area... to drive your SLK... once the problems are all sorted.
Good news for the factory tour. Are you driving there?

A quick update, not much has changed really.
The guys over at MBClub.co.uk have given me some great advice though.

It should be possible to get an a cordonned-off parking area for us at MB World.
However before I make contact with them and try and get this without having to pay for it I really need to try and get a few more people to come along.

So if there's UK members you know missing from the list below, get on their cases and get to come along!

Peter, print a poster and hang it in the windows of the Mercedes dealer. Ask for names and adresses of SLK buyers in the UK.

Just some words in the internet are not enough to create something big.

And you should write here the complete adress and the date of the meeting. Where can I find all the details? I just can find a link of a Mercedes dealer - that´s too less, I´m sorry.

to be honest Gero, i will take this as a dry run first, and then next time when yourself and co join, i will make more of an issue in N.Ireland about it, as there are very few people who are enthusiats here, instead they drive a MB for the stamp.

wimbeldon....i'll be drinking at night anyway, i'll ahve to put myself up in some hotel, maybe Liverpool and hit it hard that night. i'll be gettin liverpool boat anyway, so liverpool to the meeting point, then back again that night, then hit the booze and home sunday. great!!!

I posted this on two other forums to generate interest.
im definately going with another MB whether there is a meet or not, just for a weekend adventure. hope there is more interest from UK MB owners.

This is true but I guess the fact that it is over a month away people think they have time to say yes or no.

Not much sorted yet but probaby something like this:
Meet at around 11am have a chat, get know everyone, take pictures.
Grab some food, explore MB World then a nice drive in (hopefully) the sun.

is a must, what would be great is if someone (with a sat nav?) can plan a route for a drive , some nice twisty country roads, nice scenery etc?

i was talking about this yesterday with my friend and we r 100%. would it be better to stay in London on Sat night or drive back to Liverpool?
