| There is always good and not so good with any given situation. I'm sure some of you know I just found out I got a job in Germany which my wife and I are totally excited about. Chances are we'll still be here with the SLK, but she has informed me that we have a ton of things to do b/w now and leaving sometime the 1st or 2nd week of Dec...I hope. Anyway, as I told Tom, I feel bad because some arrangements were initially made to accommodate me coming from Lost Wages...er, I mean Las Vegas. So, if things could be changed to help facilitate others, please do it without more consideration for me. Hope that didn't sound too self-centered.

| i'm afraid i am going to have to back out also. as part II of their late life crisis, my parents have decided to moved down to san diego county. they've sold their house, bought a new one and move day is dec 9. i tried to get them to change the move date, but based on certain things they cannot. i really have to help them move. |

| Wow, SLKs on GMR. I'll try to make it out, but would prefer an earlier start time to help avoid traffic, mainly in the form of SUVs and bikes. |

| Oh and has been posted on other forums like benzworld or mbworld. Also, posting a thread in the r171 general discussion area of this forum will hopefully garner more interest, or at least make people aware of the meet. Personally, I usually just glance at the slk general discussion forum and just found this thread by chance. Last edited by heezyo2o; 11-22-2006 at 05:38 AM. |

| heezyyo2o, glad you can join us. I'm with you on a earlier start time but Sweet Slk is driving 80 some miles. SoCalSLK55 probably has a longer drive. FYI, Caltrans closed Glendora mountain road between Glendora and Glendora ridge road until next year. Sweet Slk and SoCalSLK55, what's the earliest time comfortable for you. heezyyo2o has some good points about herds of bikes later in the day. |

| I drove the route this morning and it was smooth going. The temperature got down in the low 40’s but comfortable in a tennis shirt. In three weeks maybe in the twenties with snow on the ground. Time to break out a sweater. Mount Baldy Lodge looks appetizing for lunch. Starting the ride earlier than 10:30 may pose problems with icy road conditions. In the shadows there was water on the road after last nights thaw. The roads are in good condition and minimal rock slides. I had to straddle around ten sharp rocks and 20 bicyclists on Glendora Ridge Road. To bad a forest fire raged through the area, there are a lot of burnt trees in the area. Maybe by the 9th there will be white stuff on the sides of the road. Last edited by Tslick; 06-10-2008 at 07:13 PM. |

| Thanks for the pictures. Looking forward to Dec 9th. Glendora Mountain Road would be a nice drive come spring 2007.

| I didn't really consider the snow, but if we are set on dec 9th, I guess we would have to stick with that? Other than snow, the road may be a bit treacherous for a few days after a some rain. Even with the chance or certainty of snow, it should still be a very scenic drive, but it will definitely subtract from the fun factor of driving the road aggressively. |
