| I Have a 2000 BENZ SLK 200 kompressor AND i am having electrical problems. most mechanics can not even diagnose...this problem has been going on for the past couple of months......but i seldomly use the car... the car starts for about 2 minutes then shuts off... then we charged the battery because we found out the battery was low.... after we charged the battery for 20 minutes the car starts again but only for 5 minutes..... now the problem is worst, the car wont crank, but when we turn the key on the lights on the cluster are all on, buit the car will not crank... we had the starter checked and it was ok. then the alternator charges only up to 12 volts. now everytime we turn the key on, the auxillary fan turns on right away just when the ignition key is on.... but still the car wont crank what do you think can be the problem?? we need your help badly |

| Did the mechanic you took it to check all the wiring harnesses, fuse box, etc? I don't know a lot about electronics, but to a layman it sounds like there might be a short in the wiring leading from the fusebox to the ignition switch itself. I'm postulating at best here, but if there is a separate wire for each "position" of the ignition switch, then it could register the switch turning but not engage ignition when it moves into "engine start" position (again layman's terms) if there were a short just in that one wire for that position. Someone that knows more about the innards of cars in general and kompressors in specific may have the definitive answer. DanSLK is who I'd put my money on. |

| Starter relay, starter solenoid? Have you taken it to a dealer? its a 170 so its not as smart as the 171 but the HHT emulator should provide some insight.
