Default Break Light Fuse/BAS ESP

I have a 2004 SLK 320. The exterior lamp failure indicator lamp is on, along with the BAS ESP lamp. This happened one time before and I replaced the blown fuse and then reset the ESP thingy by turning the wheel back and forth. Both lights went off and all seemed to be good. That was about 2 months ago. Today, both lights are back on. I replaced the fuse...which was blown. I then started the car and both lights are still on. I pulled the newly replaced fuse and it was blown as well. Thinking two fuses weren't enough...I kept trying. After four blown fuses, I gave up. Any suggestions?

4 blown fuses must mean a short somewhere.

Most times when a fuse is blown, the circuit is trying to tell you something that something bad is happening.

As above. Especially when it happens a second time as soon as a new fuse is installed. Diagnostics need to be done to find out why the fuse keeps getting "blown".

Thanks. I hope I didn't make it worse by trying the multiple fuses. I posted here a few months ago with another problem...the top only opens about 1/2 the times I try. I still haven't taken it in. I'm just wondering if the two problems are related? The top prob sounded like a short, too??? Maybe???
