I don't know what a TSB number looks like, but here is the full description with lots of numbers that don't mean anything to me:

---------

Customer states that when the air flow for the drivers seat air scarf is turned on and the driver is applying pressure to the seatback there is a fluttering sound. [For the record, the sound occurred in regular driving - not just with applying intentional pressure on the seat back.]

Cause:
913512 Driver Seat, R & R
545 WMBC
913541 Additional to drivers seat, R & R (with electric seat adjustment)
545 WMBC
914975 airscarf system fan - drivers seat, replace
545 WMBC
910000 modify system
545 WMBC

244 R and R drivers seat, D and A seat, removed air scarf system, ran DW punch to modify the system so it would not contact the seat back anymore, installed all parts, verified repair.

---------

I'm assuming most of those numbers just tie in to work descriptions rather than being something specific to describe a known problem.

I'm curious about the DW punch thing, too. Since mine still makes the noise though not as often.

I'll be in touch with the dealership before long. I'll try to remember to ask them specifically what that means.

Of course, if someone knows what that term means feel free to chime in.

I found out what the "DW Punch" thing means. It is just an internal code for a certain type of warranty work for time tracking purposes. It doesn't mean anything specific to modifying the fan.

Here's a funny story:

Today, my wife and I discovered a rattle inside our SLK. Sounded like a soft drink can had become caught under a seat. Checked this out, and no. It turned out that it was my wife's new purse which she had placed on the passenger side near the door panel, so that some metal fasteners on it were making the rattle against the hard door panel.

Moral of this story (if there is one) is that Mercedes is putting way too much "hard plastic" in the insides of our cars on the newer models. Like the rattle that happens when the passenger side is not occupied and the metal seat belt fastener is against the hard plastic on the back of the side bolster.

Oh, well, I can really feel, see, and hear a difference in the interiors of our '04 C 320 and our '07 SLK 280. The C is mostly soft and padded material, while the '07 incorporates much more hard surfaces. Thus, the opportunity for more rattles from normal use.
