| I am going to get new tires before my 4600 mile trip. I want good handling and QUIET. I am thinking of the Michelin Pilot Sport SP2. What do you think? p.s. Noisy tires bug the heck out of me. Especially when they start out quiet and after not a lot of mileage start rumbling... ![]() bump... Last edited by mtiede; 07-04-2008 at 08:36 AM. |

| First, before trying to answer, I have a question. What is the electronically limited top speed of your car? I know it is 147 for the 280 and 155 for the AMG (with the optional 174 mph limiter available). But I don't know what it is for the 350.

| i'm running the ps2's and i've been very happy with them. they're a little costly but they handle well, deliver a comfortable ride and i really can't say that i've heard any noise from them (excpet maybe the occassional squeal as they break traction ).

| I have those on our trusty old Honda Accord. Bought them because the Taxi's around here use them. They want a silent, long lasting, good wet tire, - they don't care about the price. I'm very happy with the tires, the only thing that bugs me are the gravel that get stuck in the threads. I'm considering those for the SLK also. Now I have Fulda Extremo - They are very good on wet but are very noisy

| Michelin PS2 here. They are probably the best tire I've experienced both in traction and sound... although somewhat costly. On my SLK350, I did have a set of Pirelli PZero Nero. I was quite impressed by their performance and they were very quiet too; much moreso than the factory Conitinental tires.

| yeah, tire rack does not offer them. I never heard of them before I bought them. The guy that sold them to me said they were racing tires. I told him "yeah right, you'll say anything to sell a tire, won't you. ha ha" But I like them. The guys in the office have started buying them too and seem to be happy with them. Nexen should pay me as a commission! LOL PS2's are good tires too! You'll be happy with them. SLKman

| I don't have a recommendation. The reason I asked about the speed limit max on the 350 is that I was going to recommend V rated tires if (and only if) your car is speed limited at 149 or below. But it is not, so I won't ![]()

| I damaged my front tire when the car had only less than fifty mile's on it. Those were the OEM P Zero's. When I purchase any front tire's I usually look for two side wall's and a high load *XL tire. A high load tire is a stiffer side wall, Less prone to fracturing side walls. I like my tires sticky, So I try to get two hundred or lower on the tread wear. I only use Bridgestone/ Potenza, Toyo/ Nitto, Yokohama/ Advan. Many tire companies have different name's, But are the same tires. As per Tire Rack, I can use 235 in the front, And 255 in the rear. Has any one tried this on there V8's ? BTW I live in NYC, And driving like I am avoiding land mine's here is a daily routine. I have at least eight sets of damages wheels in the garage. |

| Oh, man TireRack is out of stock on rear SP2s, and that is mostly what needs replacing. They checked with someone and found out that Michelin won't start making them again until August. Too late for my trip. I will probably just go with the tires I have and then replace them when I get back. Hopefully before the next trip planned in September which will be to Missouri. Oh well...Thanks for everyone's advice. |
