| Hello everyone, Just got my SLK 55 and I have a question and I hope someone can help me. When I lock and unlock the doors the car doesn't beep or indicate that the doors are locking, all it does is flashes the lights... I was wondering if this is standard on all SLK's or is it something that you can turn it on and off? I have every single option and packages that MB offers so I dont know what the problem is. If someone can guide me on how to enable the beeping when I lock the doors i would really appreciate it. Thanks! Eri |

| This is switched off for 99% of countries, MB can use the diagnostic computer to tell your alarm it is in the Netherlands and then it will beep for you.

| One more thing, is there a way to make the seat move back or to its default position when you enter the car and when you insert the key on the ignition the seat moves to your memorized position? I saw there was some setting, easy entrance or convince... and I have that on "ON"... |

| That's disabled in software at the factory, sorry it can't be enabled.

| You can add a SmarTop which has the lock/unlock beep function. Only the 2005 SLKs had the easy entry/exit feature. |

The SmartTop beep and the alarm beep use different speakers so sound different, just ask your dealer they can do the beep for you.

| Hey Dan, since we're on the topic, can the dealer enable my beep/chirp on the alarm for my 2002 SLK230 as well? Thanks for any input! Mike |

| You have 3 seat memory position buttons on the outside of the seat bottom. Some people put their personal setting in Button 1, for instance, and put an "all the way back" position in Button 3. Then, when you are getting out, you can press Button 3. When you get in you can press Button 1. This is another one of those features that they REMOVED and that pisses me off because I was looking forward to that feature as my wife and I often alternate and her settings don't allow me to get in and I only find that out when I try to swing in and my knees get caught on the dash. My MY06 was when they removed that feature. Go figure... |

SmartTop module uses the car alarm to do the sound so it's a different sound and a tad louder.

| MB also removed the right side rear view mirror tilt-on-reverse feature in US spec cars. It is still present in Euro spec vehicles.

| I think with the SmartTop module there is the option to have either the horn or alarm doing the chirps, but for the alarm you have to re-seat a fuse (all documented in the manual of course!) ![]() |

| I had the dealer activate the "beeps" when locking and unlocking - they are very quiet, but enough to get an audible confirmation. Then I got the SmartTop and now it beeps three times and then chirps once when locking - sounds pretty cool!! And we have easy entry on ours ![]() |

| Wow! I would like to thank each and everyone of you who responded! I am very surprised how helpful you guys are! I am really sorry that I haven't been able to respond or to thank you guys for the comments you sent! I think I have gotten used to not having the chirps/beep.... SmartTop sounds a little too complicated for me and since its a 2 year lease I dont want to put too much money on it. I was thinking on purchasing the green filters and thats it ![]() Again thank you all for the comments and I will talk to you soon. Thanks, Eri |
