Default Bag behind seat?

In pictures, I have seen what appears to be a leather bag apparently made to use that little hook behind the seat. Does anyone know where to buy one?

Saw it for sale in an MB catalogue at the dealership - doesn't appear in the (Canadian) online version though for some reason.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't have room for any bag to hang behind my seats.

I think it could maybe fit something for my wife and I. We are headed for a couple of road trips. One from Western New York to Western Canada. Banff in particular. Mostly going there so we can drive the beautiful mountains with the top down. So it will take about 4-5 days to get out there, a week there, then 4-5 days back plus some more days to look at some other stuff in between.

So I think we could use some more storage room because the trunk will be full

The other trip will be to drive around the Ozarks about month after the first trip.

Default Thin generic black garment bag

I couldn't find that bag anymore on the latest accessories booklet for the SLK (from MBUSA).

You may be able to use a thin generic black cloth garment bag to use behind the seats. The hook is small and is not intended to hold heavy loads (perhaps no more than the weight of 2 suits) or it'll break. Make a small 2-inch loop from a strong yarn/nylon. Loop this around the hook on the seat back and then hook the hanger from the garment bag unto the nylon loop.

I keep the SLKWorld hooded fleece at the back of the passenger seat. It is hung on a plastic hanger, where the hook of the hanger has been cut off and replaced with a fishing nylon loop instead. This comes in handy when the weather suddenly turns chilly.

I've tried looking on eBay UK but no-one has ever sold one on there, alternatively you could use the hook behind the seat to hang an airfreshner, it will be out of sight then

But if you really want one then these are the details...

SLK Garment Bag
Product Code: B66950069
Price: $198.45
Description: The Garment Bag is made of water-repellent ballistic nylon — an easy-care material that is particularly tear-resistant and creaseproof.

I know there isn't much length there. I thought the bag might help protect stuff getting into the track etc. of the seat. $200 sounds a bit steep, but don't know where to get it.

I guess you could take the product number into your local Mercedes-Benz dealership and ask them if they could order one in.

Went through Banff, up to the Columbia ice fields and out to Victoria island on the bike a few years ago. All of it is amazing- esp the Canadian rockies.

You'll have a great time in the SLK.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was going to be about where to stow away the mother-in-law. Sorry...couldn't resist.

Yes, I've been lucky enough to go through that area 4 times now. One visit saw bear in the campsite too close for comfort, coyote close to car, mountain goat and timber wolf and went for a ride on one of those big buses on the icefields. Quite a while ago now.

The first trip was when I was young and with my family. We were headed to Washington State from Ohio. My Dad decided to take a "short cut" out the west side of Banff rather than backtrack to Calgary. Turned out to be just a gravel, washboard, sometimes single lane, wood planks over waterfall, logging road. That short cut took ALL day and we barely made it out before the gas was gone. At one point a logging truck was coming down full bore and my Dad pulled to the side only to scrape the side of the car on the rock cliffs. And the road was so rough, he straddled the tracks to ride on the piled up gravel. Only trouble was the edge of the cliff was about a foot from the edge of the gravel. It was an exciting trip I will never forget.

This time we plan on spending a FEW days at Lake Louise at the Fairmont. Probably hike up to the tea house and have a slice of pie. Canoe across the lake. Drive all the mountain roads we can find

Hope to have lots pictures to share...

We went to Victoria, too. Stayed at the Empress in Victoria. Nice little bay area there. Cool seeing the float planes land.

And we went up to Whistler. Unfortunately, we had a rental. It would have been great to have the SLK and go up that coast road and the mountains up and around Whistler. On second thought, with the top down, we might have risked getting bonk by a boulder.

At Whistler we ran out of things to do and went for a drive to the "Ancient Cedars". I saw a map to the area on a restaurant place mat. So we drove over there. Turned off onto a dirt road. Road got rougher and rougher. Then it actually drove through a dried up gully. And then the road got BAD. I actually got out of the car and planned putting one tire on one boulder and the other tire on another boulder to make sure the front and back ends of the car didn't hang up on the gully edges. Made it through. Thought, "Did I make a wrong turn somewhere?" until saw a car coming the other way. Stopped the guy and he said, "This is a road you have no right to ask a car to go." But I figured if he made it, so could I. Continued on until the road turned to what looked like fresh gravel quite thick and seemed like the angle went up at 45 degrees. I called it quits and walked up that hill. Went walking around the very large cedar forest. Somewhat like Sequoia. Saw a deer in the woods with the light streaming down through the primeval forest.

So when we turned around and retraced our steps and were about to reenter the main road, I looked at the place mat again to see where else to go.

That was when I noticed the "For 4-wheel drive ONLY" warning.

That Cutlass Ciera was quite the rental

Totally agreed about the road from Vancouver to Whistler, the first hour or so is amazingly beautiful and a great drive. Like you I was driving a rental - a van full of skis and skiers many years ago. I've always wanted to go back and take a proper drive on that road. Hmm.....
