I just filled up with gas. I noticed a new sticker by the pump. "May contain up to 10% ethanol." Is that enough to hurt the engine?

| Owner's manual states: "Unleaded gasoline containing oxygenates such as ethanol, IPA, IBA, and TBA can be used provided the ratio of any one of these oxygenates to gasoline does not exceed 10%; MTBE not to exceed 15%." (under Fuel Requirements, Technical Data)

Oh, and it was $4.10 a gallon which is the most I have now ever paid for gas. These escalating gas prices will bring down the US that relies on cheap gas for EVERYTHING.

I'm at $3.99 per gallon, but I've no doubt that I'll be hitting the $4 mark soon. This is getting ridiculous!

I'm afraid that is likely to be sooner rather than later. The US DEPENDS on low fuel costs (IMHO). It has been critical to our large country and has encouraged travel and mixing of the cultures not to mention the tourism industry. I'm nervous about our upcoming 3 week + driving trip to Banff and Lake Louise and future trips. I have stated in the past that I work so that I will have money to travel. Now traveling may have to be curtailed.

One thing that is strange to me is that the C 300, which has esssentially the same engine as the SLK 280, is an E85 vehicle. That means that the C 300 can use an 85% ethanol blend, but the SLK 280 is limited to a 10% ethanol blend.
