Charcoal Canister Filter

Had the 'Check Engine' light on for the past week. Finally had a chance to take it in to the dealership.

Was told that my charcoal canister filter was bad. Didn't hold a vacuum or something. Car is 2006 with 24000 miles on it. Is this common? Anyone else have this issue?

Recently put in the Green Filters. Would that have caused it?

Garage
This is similar to not closing the fuel filler cap and getting the check engine light from that. Charcoal canister filter is mainly in conjunction the fuel system (for overflows).

I don't think it's related to the Green Air filter.

Charcoal canister stores fuel vapor, its only connection to the intake is the purge valve.

It wont be related to your filters

If it's just a simple thing, how/why it needs fixing?

Well things break mate, its a metal cylinder so if its not holding a vacuum one of the attachments could be damaged or it could have a small pinprick in the casing somewhere.

Lots of simple things break unfortunately.
