Cold Air From Ashtray / Dash

While driving to the airport Monday, I noticed cold air coming from the ashtray area and could also feel it from between the gaps by the buttons and Comand screen. Is that normal?

Look and see if the Air Conditioning light is on. If it is, you may want to turn it off. Turning on the front defrost not only makes the fan blow lots of air, but also turns on the A/C. When you turn off the defrost, the A/C stays on. Supposedly to help take moisture out of the air. So maybe the A/C was blowing from that.
