| I have just bought a 1999 SLK230K in the UK, and it came with 2 keys. One works perfectly in all respects, the other starts the engine but doesn't operate the central locking. I have tried changing the batts but it is dead. I have just bought a spare key from Ebay and changed the key blades over, and tried the recoding sequence in the handbook. (press button twice then turn key to position 2). This didn't work, in fact the engine would not start. Any ideas please? It is the 2 button remote fob by the way. |

| No can do mate, the keys are paired from the factory. It sounds like the CL side of the bad key has failed, not much can be done about that I'm afraid. If you want another key you will need to order a new one from MB.
