| I have the Bluetooth HandsFree link in my TSX; it's an ok feature. I read the reports of SLK owners lamenting the lack of Bluetooth for their roadsters and the lengths they go to and the costs that they incur to add this feature. I found this devise at the local Staples, under $20. ![]() I now have all of the features that the TSX provides while in my SLK. It has quite a few advantages over the HandsFree Link in the TSX (and, I suspect, the SLK's Bluetooth connection). Unlike the TSX, which has its own phone book, I don’t have to program the roadster with the same information for my contacts; it is already in my cell phone. The phone is a Nokia 6085, which I purchased from my carrier, Cincinnati Bell, for about $80. The phone has voice recognition, which allows me to say a name and it dials the number, just like my TSX. The nicest part is that I can use this devise while shopping at the mall, in a resturant, walking the dog, whatever. Attached are pictures of the devise and the installation in the roadster. ![]() ![]() I also have the option of wearing it on my ear if I don’t want to put it on when I hear a call come in. The hardest part of the install was opening the package. However, I was able to do that in about 90 seconds with a utility knife. So, all of you who are bemoaning the fact that it costs $200, $500, $1,000, $2,000 or more to get hands free cell phone reception while driving, consider getting one of these devises. I noted that Staples had the latest one for under $100.A near as I can tell, this devise beats the crap out of a hands free connection in the car because: it has more features, it is as easy if not easier to use, it is easier to set up, particularly if you have several cars, it is more useful. Oh yeah, you can solve the whole problem for about 100 bucks, including the phone. ![]() ![]() ![]() Earlier life: 1966 Datsun 1600 Sport, 1972 BMW 2002tii, 1973 Volvo 142e, 72 Datsun 240Z, 72 Mercedes 250, 73 BMW 2002, 73 Datsun 260Z, 73 Volvo 164e, 71 BMW 2800cs, 77 BMW 320i, 82 Mercedes 300D, 84 BMW 325e, 86 Acura Legend, 90 Miata, 00 Acura TL A car is an expensive PITA; get one you like. |

| Strange comment to me, too. The package had an 8 1/2 by 14 instructions printed on both sides, with pictures. In addition, there is a 71-page book (in four languages), Important Safety and Legal Information, which details handy things to know like: Turn off in aircraft, Don’t dispose of batteries in a fire, Don’t take notes or look up telephone numbers while driving, Don’t engage in stressful or emotional conversations that may be distracting while driving. You get the picture. However, nothing mentioned about irradiating your brain. The brain irradiation even appears to be debatable with cell phones. But then, I live within 100 feet of a high-tension powerline… I agree with Don, I seldom use the phone in my roadster. Like the Germans, I see the SLK as a refuge, not as a phone booth or a dining room. Just radio or CD or listen to the music of the 350. I suspect that this is why cup holders on German cars are such an afterthought. The concept of anything but driving in a car just blows past the Germans. ![]() So, get off of the $&#* phone and drive the car. |

| cyber, The BT headset gets hot sometimes when you are talking for 5 minutes and longer; I've experienced that with the headsets that I used.
