Exclamation Check Engine Light

Hey guys. I was recently driving around in my 2001 slk 320, and the Check engine light went on. I took it to Auto Zone and Advance auto parts and both came with this weird code: P0410 "The PCM has determined that a malfunction exisits in the secondary air injection system" I took it in, and he had trouble on how to go about fixing this problem, if anyone could help me that would be greatly appricated. The Troubleshooting gave probable causes also. 1-Circut relay defective or fuse open
2- Check connector and wiring
3- Air pump defective or hoses blocked
If any one had some sort of problem like this I would like to know what you did. I really dont want to take it to the Merc dealer, Iv had some bad experiences with them, them trying to cheat me. Thanks.

I'd stop by your MB dealer. There is a campaign for the secondary air injection pump relay. Campaign no. 2006030011.

It may not cost you.

I'm not sure, but I think you might also get this if the gas cap is not sealed closed. Just check that it is properly seated and twisted until it clicks. Hope it is that simple for you. (but suspect it is not)...
