| I did a shake down drive of the SLK55 yesterday and ran into a weird hiccup of controling my iPod from the wheel control. I had already selected a playlist and was playing songs before I stuck it in the car. Once the list had stopped playing, instead of indexing songs, it went "up" one menu list between the tach/speedo screen by only letting me index by artists, playlists, genres, albums, etc. I couldn't figure out how to select an album or playlist to get it to start playing again. Needless to say it's pretty frustrating. I guess I could just preload a big ass list of songs, but since it sees the other options I'm *assuming* it can select between them. I also noticed (or a a lack thereof) no iPod references or screen info on the big COMMAND screen in the center of the dash. is there some sort of software update change that needs to be enabled that perhaps was missed during the factory install? Any links or advise on where I could find the docs for this and learn more would be appreciated. -Doug |

| I only ever used the iPod kit in my car once and fell out with it so now i just fit them and let the SA's explain how they work but i can answer one part of it. Because of they way the kit is jury-rigged into the car the COMAND does not show any info for the iPod its all on the cluster.

| I only played with an iPod in the mine once, but recall that a lot of the functionality is not obvious. I read the manual after the fact and saw that I missed a number of ways to use the system. Have a look. BTW, I have decided to get an iPhone and will report if it works with the iPod kit.

| i hope this doesn't offend folks but i think i found the answer searching benzworld and was in the wrong mode (credit goes to the poster)- When you arrive at the current playlist, you then use the page buttons ( on the left side of the steering controls ) to scroll through the different playlists. This is also used to scroll the IPOD main menu after using the hang up button to exit back. Remember there are two operational modes. Navigation, and play mode. The keys respond differently depending on which mode you are in. Here are the Key functions in navigation mode Arrow down = Scroll dowwn menus Arrow UP = Scroll up menus Answer button = confirm selection Hangup Button = Return to previous menu + = Increase volume _ = Decrease Volume Page keys = Scroll to ipod main menu Here are the KEY functions In Play mode Arrow down = Press briefly and the next track is played OR Press and hold to fast forward through the current track Arrow up = Press briefly and the next track is repeated OR press and hold to reverse through the current track Answer Button = NO Function in play mode Hangup button = Changes display to Ipod Navigation menu + = increase Volume _ = Decrease volume |
