| I saw the nightvision on the S550... very impressive. And also saw the backup cam... also impressed. (i like the toys) You think it will be overkill on the SLK? I am looking into integrating an LCD on top of the mucho usefull cupholders. (i have 2 lcds laying around from previous cars) There are 2 handy screws there already. For me, the fear of eating the curb while parking. I have a problem with that and the R171 is much lower then the other cars i have owned.Obviously this is going to be tastefully done not to Rice it out. I already painted the LCD outside to match the matte color of the interior. Worse case, i make it, i hate it, i scrap it... |

| I have a backup cam on my Sienna. It really is a MUST for a van. But the high trunk on the SLK also blocks the rear view. It would be GREAT to have a backup cam on the SLK. It would let you know if you were going to back over a kid or some kid toys or something else. Hopefully, if you see something, you will stop |

| Well here goes nothing... I ordered the LCD screen today, and hope to pick up the Rear plate cam as well. If all goes well, i can have some pics next week. Perhaps not completely wired in, but at least the way it will look I may need some help running the wire from the rear plate to the front dash, and to the AUX input in the glove box. From what i saw i think i can manage, but if anyone has worked in the area and has pics, it would be very helpful Last edited by noregret4life; 07-05-2006 at 11:54 PM. |

| I routed a wire from my rear plate to the dash last weekend for my rear laser shifter. It went through the door lid and down the vario roof arm then followed the edge of the carpet up the left hand side of the inner boot and through the rear bulkhead into the area behind the seat(it all comes apart quite easily) I used an old telescopic arial to feed the wire past the greay foam in the rear bulkhead. then ran the wire down the keft hand side under the cill and up under the footwell cover to the left. much easier than I thought it would be.

| I'm new to this forum (it's great!) and have been following this thread. Any update to the front camera? I had an SL55 and was always scraping the front end (it was lowered). I have an SLK55 on order and don't want to do the same thing. If you could "see" the curb or wall in front of you (way down low, not like Parktronic), then that could be avoided. Does anyone make a front video kit? And if it played through the NAV screen, that would be heaven. Bob |

| Hi Bob, There is not really any way to integrate the cam into the COMAND for many reasons the biggest being the US spec head unit does not have a video function so it has no way to receive the feed from the cam. The best way by far is to follow the NG4L method and install a separate LCD into the car this will also allow many more goodies not just a camera to be installed, so my advice to you would be to follow this aftermarket setup and when it comes to mods noregret is your man he'll have you up and running in no time at all and as you can see from this work it is all tastefully done. Cheers Dan

| Here's the link to the LCD mount, it has 2 av inputs, so one can have front and rear view cameras if so desired. http://www.slkworld.com/general-modi...d-install.html

| No apologies necessary! This is great info. When my SLK arrives, I will have to decide just what mods to do first. This forum is much more positive and supportive than those "others". It's great to hear what everyone has done to their cars. NG4L is truly 'the man'. |

| IMHO, the KVM (Komfort Variodach Modul) or varioroof module is a very utilitarian modification. Now that there are more sellers, the price seems to be decreasing. The Kleyman 1 (NG4L's brakelight module) is not only useful but may enhance safety by reducing the risk of a rear-ender.
