| http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...omand-2-a.html aftermarket, expensive, questionable tech support, requires "TV" button, US stardiagnostic can't program it. http://www.slkworld.com/general-modi...ehiclehub.html expensive and complex Alpine system http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ight=aux+video Stock MBZ video unit, REQUIRES "TV" button, moderately expensive. intended for w211, but some w211 comand system parts can be integrated with r171. see also here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r171...highlight=ipod Dan says:"There is not really any way to integrate the cam into the COMAND for many reasons the biggest being the US spec head unit does not have a video function so it has no way to receive the feed from the cam." So, my question is, what parts are required to enable US R171 COMAND to use AUX video? Thanks, Edward |

| Easy Peasy - just fit a European spec COMAND unit I honestly think for you guys in the States, unfortunately, it's the only way to get the functionality - unless you swap out the HU for a Pioneer or Alpine, and then if you do, the steeering wheel buttons won't work.

| Woolly's right, check ebay for availability of EURO spec COMAND unit for the R171, or if you have friends/contacts in Europe.

| Well, i'd like to keep this car lightweight (my last car had about 200 lbs of audio/visual equipment). i just want the video input for front/rear cams, i don't really want to change the electronics in this car too much, and i DEFINETELY don't want to spend as much money on the electronics. |

| Unfortunately there really is not much that cam be done about this the problem being that the HU lacks not just the TV button but all the associated hardware. Not really much you can do to enable the video to a US spec sorry mate the only way i can see would be to replace the thing with an EU setup but yeah you will lose Sirius if you do that so i guess its swings and roundabouts whatever you do really. Best thing would be an aftermarket LCD for the cams but that would not work with the weight reduction plan but it would be cheaper than swapping head units.

| Another thing, though i am not 100% sure on this one, but as far as i know the EU Command does not have AV-input. It only allows DVD playback via the drive in the Command itself. If you are serious about the upgrade, toss the cupholders and set it up "Noregret Customs" style I doubt the additional weight of the screen and some AV cables exceeds 5-7 lbs total. Will give you 3 AV inputs and a tv tuner if you choose to use it. Sounds like you know car audio, so imagine a 1/2 din unit, with no addional brain or module to connect. To balance it out, leave the 5 lb manual at home... |

| noregret, i've done a bit of car-modding myself, (my other car has full carputer with full audio, gps, tracking, video, surround sound, limited data-logging, 10.4 inch touch screen, front and rear cams, etcetera), but i really want to take advantage of the COMAND screen...not as much because it's a great screen, but just because everything it displays is so ugly...no 3d mapping, no song & artist titles, no engine data...just plain ugly. i just think the 'AUX' input should be utilised better. |

| noregret mate 100% correct about the HU no AV in just DVD. I know what you mean cyberdrakon the COMAND does have lots of wasted space but the only real thing you could do to enable it to show cams would be an EU headunit and a TV tuner that has AV inputs so you could hook up to that and then it would fire the images across the MOST really no other way to integrate into the HU.
