Default New Radar, Stupidity Provails

Ok i've had this quite expensive safety device(radar/laser detector) for about 4 months now, And initial research found that none of the loacal companies would install it for me in my pristine new SLK. So it's been sat there looking perdy in its box.

This weekend on the way to the race track of all places, I was taking quite easy in the middle of nowhere, No house, no schools, no parks even no junctions. Just wide open north texas planes. So I'm driving along and one of texas finest offices is driving the other way. I think nothing of it until I see him spin round. Figuring I havent seen another car for 10mins I guess i'm in for a little "respect my authority". Anyhow turns out the small bit of road he was passing me in drops for no reason what so ever to a 45zone.. and I was doing 65mph. My english upbringing doesn't help in the UK a road 3 times the width, twistie and two way would be a 60zone.

So now i'm punished in the wallet, I figure this weekend I'm going to fit the safety device myself just so I dont waste the time of any good doing officers in the future.

It's the Escort passport with laser shifters. I've seen on one of the other forums a guy had it stealth installed on a red SLK and it integrates really well. on a black one it will be pretty much invisable.

Default Radat Detectors

Have these ever really saved you from getting a ticket? When I had one, it was a false sense of security. My 2cents

I've been saved at least once. Was coming down I-87 from the Adirondacks this spring and hooked up with a Saleen Mustang and we were cruising at 90+ mph in very light traffic. At one point, my V1 went off. I slowed up. The Saleen didn't. Within a half mile or so, there was the Mustang being pulled over by a state trooper. Without the V1, I think I would have been there with him.

its cheaper to not buy the car and sit at home and watch TV. I'm used to riding bikes that are very difficult to keep below 50mph so i'll take the risk and enjoy my self.

They are perfectly legal here in most of the U.S. However, if you're caught speeding with a detector visible, don't expect to talk your way out of the ticket.

There is a full 5th Gear episode with Tiff Needle and Vicky talking about this, I forgot what they said but it was aired at the Discovery Channel , I am sure you can obtain the video on the internet or you could always go to your local police station and inquire about the Lasers or Jammers if they are legal or not

Target LRC 100 laser detector, diffuser and garage door opener.

This is the one they tested and the video shows that it worked.

But for $660.00???

Argh!!!
