Default SLK fenders

Hi.
Is there different shape of fender for the R171 available?
According to some pictures found on the Internet it seems that there are some wider types of fenders on some cars. If so one could fit wider wheels to the car or?

The AMG fender and skirt (second photo) [looks re-badged, AMG insignia on wrong side] is different from non AMG fender and skirt. The third photo looks like a illustration.

Default fenders

Your 2nd post is of the Black Series ... the bumper and fenders are different than all other SLK55's.

As the 2nd pic the front does look a bit more flared but I'm a bit suspicous because the poster above is correct that the badging is placed in the wrong position. I'll go downstairs and look at my car but I don't think the fronts are that flared.

I think it's just the angle of the shot.

I'm not sure there's any change on the black series. I think it just looks different to the lack of spots and obviously the carbon vent inserts.

In all the pictures i have seen, the Black series cars have a really sharp cut line on the front bulges, where the regular cars have just a soft 'wave' for the delineation of the bulges.

Getting back to the subject.

bejak, If you are looking for wider tires for your car, are your fenders rolled?

Rears can't be rolled, the front could be a little more but you don't need more than 235 width up front. The rear is already rolled from factory. Only way is to cut the fenders and have it redone. That would cost alot and isn't worth it IMO.

They all looked the same to me, the black series looks to be just a bit wider, more distinct, maybe it's the way the pic was taken, I don't know.

Both front and rear fenders are rolled on mine. I think it's standard. Haven't done anything to the fenders after buying the car. I'm using 8" rims front and rear + 25mm spacers rear and planning to use 15mm at the front. Later a set of 9.5" or 10" rims for the rear with 265s would be nice (without spacers). Not that my small engine needs it but it would look better.

i have 10" wide rears on mine with 265 tyres, i get rubbing on the rach but only slightly and only when hammering it and hitting bumps. was considering getting a smaller tyre width and stretching it to make it just fit inside the arch (think it is just rubbing on the splash guard.
however i would consider getting my arches rolled. would this not do any damage to the paintwork?

When I took mine to get it rolled, the tire shop told me the SLK came already rolled from the factory, the front might be able to roll a bit more but the rear can't be rolled w/o risk of damage to the paint. RobSLK, a member of benzworld tried to rolled the rear to accomodate wider tires and ended up getting damaging his paint.

Just go look at the inside of the fenders. You'll quickly realize that there's just a little to be rolled on the front and NOTHING to be rolled on the rear.

Default the real question

is what tire are you using. I'm on a 10 in the rear as well no rubbing. Are you using michelin tires? what is the offset of the rim? Are you using spacers?
