| Afternoon all, I'm thinking about getting this Carlsson rear boot lid spoiler for my 350. I love the lines of the SLK, but the back for me is just a little....(and bear in mind I bought one so don't shoot me down)..well....a little girly! I like the standard AMG lip spoiler, but it's a bit plain. Then I stumbled across this Carlsson one. I really like it...but it aint cheap! ![]() £269 + VAT - not painted, not fitted (not sure how it fits). What do we all think....? |

Problem is that with primer, 2 coats of paint, clearcoat, fitting and VAT it's coming in at about £500!! That's a lot of dosh for a small non-performance enhanching mod. No doubt I'll do it anyway! | |

| I like that for the R171. I don't like the R171's rear end. I prefer my R170, but with that spoiler, the R171 catches my positive attention a little more.

| May be cheaper if it's the AMG? check eurotek sports for the CF rear deckspoiler (as posted by AddictedtoSpeed, IIRC).

| have one on my car, plus there side skirts and front spoiler along with there pedal kit. I personally feel carlsson brings some of the best non performance after market mods to the table but unfortunatley there not cheap as you know. I will tell you that after twice having the ends of the spoiler coming loose on me (factor in that I have a stiffer suspension than stock plus 19inch rims with lower profile tires and having to drive on some crappy roads daily) I elected to have the spoiler bolted to the trunk and glued.Know problems with the ends coming loose anymore. I totally love the look so I would never worry about what if....I wanted to put back the stock spoiler, not happen.

| Looks nice, and I've been debating adding a spoiler to my 350. Unfortunately I had a close encounter with a piece of tire on the way home from Hilton Head, and cracked the lower lip of the front lower air dam, so getting that sorted is now going to be the priority... |

| It's not bad (or at least it doesn't look it to me - I'll take some pic's and get y'alls advice later) - but it's about the only "defect" on the car, and I can't help but notice it! Typical crap - Interstate, 70mph, traffic, and no were to go to avoid it. Hoping I can get it repaired as opposed to having to replace the cover, but I've never had good experiences with "fixing" bumper covers... |

| i always liked carlssons designs and if i didnt have an amg, id go for either the brabus, carlsson or kleemann exterior kits. Carlsson being the most aggressive kit on the market.

| if you are just looking for Stock AMG style spoiler in carbon fiber, check Ebay. They've got one about the same quality as other Euroteck pieces (which is actually pretty good). I have no affiliation with the seller and can't vouch for him, but i've heard good things. I wanted to get one of these made in the USA, and my COST was almost twice the amount... |

| Mainly looks, downforce only when you're going more than 125 mph (maybe). Comments from our aeronautical engineers appreciated.

| when it comes to small lip spoilers like this, the main purpose is to reduce drag rather than to produce down force. I believe the effect begins happening around 60 mph where drag just starts to become noticeable. The lip creates a very small vortex allowing air to quickly fill the vacuum behind the car as your car pushes through the air (same way a vortex in a tub/toilet makes water drain faster). (not an aeronautical engineer but spent lots and lots of time studying windtunnel pictures). |
