| Hi all, sorry I have not been around much. Been busy at the new job. This morning I dropped off the SLK to have MB apply Huper-Optik tint to the windows. I already have it on our ML350, and was impressed with the amount of heat transmission that is blocked. Very important for our 120 degree summers in AZ. But I was not happy that it was not darker and more gray vs. bronze in color. My service advisor mentioned that there is a darker Huper-Optik tint called "Drei" that is a special order, and the job would result in about a 50% increase in cost using this special order tint. I decided to go for it. It is indeed a little darker when side by side with my ML. I was instructed not to wash the car or roll the windows down for two days, so I am going to wait that time before taking pics for you all. I'll try to show the comparison with pics of both cars. Something to note: I asked the cashier about a discount based on my MBCA membership and she said "of course!!" So I saved $50! That membership has definately paid for itself. I highly recommend it for all of you. More to follow after I get the pics posted.

Strangely enough the dealer here in san antonio does not do tint (supposedly). They are trying to send me to a local tint shop called Mother's window tint. I've been there before, but on much lower end vehicles (hyundai tiburon like 5 years ago or so). Anyone have any good recommendations in the central Texas area?

cousjcc - give the guys at Boerne Mercedes a call - I realize that they are not uber close to you, but I saw an SL and an SLK that they did, and both looked simply awesome. I think they have a 3rd party shop do it, but whoever it is does amazing work. No clue on the costs..

Will do. The boerne sales department is kinda po'd at me (long story) but as long as I bypass them and go straight to service maybe I can get a quick tint job done .

:-) Like I said, I think they are using a third party to do it - lemme know what you find out, I'm headed Austin way next trip over, and was going to look at getting some tinting done as well. Not super high on the priority list, and I've not seen anything in Baton Rouge / New Orleans that really impressed me.
