| I found this badge interesting. Some members on the other forum decided to create it based on the 6.3 AMG badge. Take a look. You might want one. Here's the link too: http://www.mbworld.org/forums/showth...65#post2909465 ![]()

| You know it's funny i normally avoid these sort of things but they look really very good indeed.

| Don't think I want one, but it does seem very well done.

| I agree. They are very well made. I guess you could put it on the front fender just past the wheel. Of course, I'm not certain it would fit in that small space. I'm sure if we give it a little time, some nut will find multiple places to install it. (ie headrests, glove compartment door, steering wheel... just to name a few )

| <ocd> It's not a bad "re-pop", but the 5's are a little too wide in the wide spots and they are not beveled as much as the 6.3. The horizontal surfaces of the numbers actually need to be wider so they will have enough "meat" to bevel down to about where they are now. I'm not sure they "work" on the 171's because they are smoother and more "swoopy" than the more chiseled and angular body lines of the 63. The emblem carries that same design theme. ....but that's not to say I haven't pondered putting MB "V8" emblems on the front fenders... but I decided against it to maintain more stealth. </ocd> My .02 cents worth. |

| Cyberdrakon, you're too much. It's just a badge. It doesn't necessarily mean someone is vain. It's not the looks, but one's actions that make the difference. Besides, one could argue that your signature says, "Look at me." I simply take it as pride.

| I don't think it would work well on the SLK. It might look just fine on a sedan.

I'm talking about those people that went to get a badge made to copy the 63 badge. The 63 has a separate badge because it's the first complete AMG engine for a production car, whereas as the 32s and 55s are based on stock blocks. ADDING badges to a car is all about looks, not about actions, and i think that satisfies both our definitions of 'vain'? This is much like those people who add a AMG badge to the back and have AMG wheel and bodykit only on their car. They also argue they have 'AMG parts on their car' but we feel the AMG badge should signify either complete cars or at least engines. | |

| You got a point. In the end, I think the car should simply come with badges that are installed at the factory. The only exception would be Brabus, Renntech, Kleeman, etc once a car has had engine modifications.

| The 63 badge just signifies engine size like the "V8 Kompressor" and "V12 Bi-Turbo" badges for example, difference is AMG made the logo a little more flashy than they used to. I'm really very impressed at the work that went into it to get such a carbon copy of the original badge, i agree it would be hard to get a nice integrated look on the SLK, it seems the 63 is larger then the ED10 badge so it would be a tight squeeze on the wing/fender area and i think it would look properly daft on a light color. Agree it fits into the 'vain' category but then so does many things like adding Kleemann / RennTech / V8 / V8 Kompressor badges to the SLK, its purely a looks thing.

| Well, maybe we should get these guys to make a gearshit logo. I'd buy it for sure... vain or not ![]()
