| The wife came home with the car and didn't even realise that this is what it looked like on the outside. I was in shock!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() I was ready to kill somebody! Honestly. I took some pics so that i could prove that i was right to commit murder over this. But i couldn't bear to look at it and do nothing, so i only took these three. The lower half of the car was COVERED in silver gloss paint. I took out my cleaning bag and got to work. This time, the wife helped and my brother came over to help too. My wife kept all of it wet by continually going over the car with warm water mixed with lots and lots of car wash, my brother took each wheel off and scrubbed the arches with paint remover (carefully), while i took my speed detailer (macguiers) and some microfibres and went around the car washing off each and every spec of it. Luckily, it all came off. It took us 4 hours to do the whole car though (and i spent two hours that morning washing it!). After we'd cleaned the car, my brother drove me back the route that my wife took with the car (only 4 miles). We found where the paint had come from. Somebody (kids i guess), had covered a 3-series bmw with a whole can of the stuff! The car was white originally and the paint had dripped off the car and gone everywhere. My wife must have driven over the paint without realising. And she wasn't the only one, the puddle was right at the top of a narrow road, so you had no choice but to go over it even if you did see it, and the paint picked up and transferred from other cars tyres went all the way down the road. Anyway, it's all good now. But i'll never forget how i was fuming when i first saw it. |

| That is downright WRONG!!!! Sorry to see this happen. Where you able to get the paint off ok? I posted a while ago about my friends A4. She actually ran over a FULL bottle of silver spray paint on the road. The bottle exploded all over the entire side of the car, wheel well, brakes, and it looked like someone painted silver racing stripes on the drivers side. Mind you, she head the can pop and thought it was a pothole, kept driving and spreading the paint all over with the wind. Terrible thing to see on any car. Esp on a new SLK. |

| Yeah, it all came off thankfully. But it was hard work. My wife didn't realise either and she jumped on the motorway. Doing 40-50mph isn't a good idea when you've got paint that was stuck in the tread of your tyres now flying down the side of your car! |

| noregret4life> I'll get the exact name of the products that i used for you tonight and post them tomorrow. As for the process: it was gloss paint, water and jet washers won't work, once it dries it's really difficult to take off (although not impossible cos i did see a two or three small dots that were left behind and they came off a week or so later using the speed detailer). I mixed loads of car wash shampoo with the warm water, literally just poured it in. The speed detailer is what i used to take the paint off though, it's fantastic stuff, they should advertise it as "Gives a great finish AND removes paint that doesn't belong on your car!!!". Just sprayed it on, and rubbed it off. Left a great finish too! Actually, just did a little google and found the products: Car wash - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...8454&langId=-1 Detailer - http://www.ekmpowershop2.com/ekmps/s...&productid=245 |

| Um, i should have added a little disclaimer at the bottom. I haven't used anything else to be able to compare it to, but i'm so happy with it i probably won't change now either unless i see a difference in other people's finish. The speed detailer gives a great, smear-free finish. I wash the car, dry the car, and then go round each panel spraying on the detailer and polishing it off by hand with a microfibre, that's it, and that's why i love it. |

| Ow.. That spretty aweful. I had the same kind of feeling. I went out to the super market one evening to get some essentials. I think the car was only a couple of weeks old. the left door was covered in white paint and it was all over the bonet/hood and the roof. Somebody had drove round the car park and paintbaleld my car. I guess it must be water based, I got to a hot spray wash and spent an hour going over it and it all came off. I was wondering if I had a real gun in the car and that happened, would it be fair to shoot back with real bullets?

I was really worried when the paint wouldn't just come off with water and shampoo, i thought it was going to stay on the car for good.

| I remember getting hammerite on my M3 got that was depressing because it wasn't going anywhere fast had to replace the panel in the end now i garage the cars before i paint. Your lucky it came off mate with the heat generated around the wheels i would have expected it to be dried on in just a few minutes.

That's cool you got it off! That would have been a bitch! Especially since they can swirl mark your car taking it off. I had concrete dumped all over my 2005 (good thing I had the top up!) I learned my lesson from my Fiero going through a puddle left after someone cleaned a concrete truck, the lime in the concrete immediatly eats into the paint, if you let it sit for even a half hour, it's down below the service and you have to sand paint off. I pulled over and started "disrobing". Used a hand towel I had in the trunk, and brand new dress shirt and tie to get concrete off the paint as fast as possible. Jerks wouldn't give me the company info in case I couldn't get it off, luckily Tele-Aid got the cops there faster then my calls to the local police station did. Mom made me some towels with my initials embroadered in red for the SLK. I keep 3 full size ones in the spare tire well just in case something like this happens again. Did you guys notice in one of the other posts I listed about someone pouring paint all over someone else's car? Geez, hope I didn't jinx you!

| I think Easty was talking about Dent Protection Insurance (probably an extra "rider") where the dent is repaired by an authorized Paintless Dent Removal facility.
