| first, i like to say hi to the community, this is my first time posting in this community, and is my first MB 08 SLK 350.. nice to meet you guys!! i just got back from my first service, while i was waiting, i saw the new 09 SLK on the lot. I notice that the sound system on the 09 already have built in bluetooth and 6 CD changer, so my question is, if it possible to swap my 08 unit out and replace it with the new 09 unit? because MB is going to charge me $2500 just to install the phone connector and the bluetooth.. so i think it might be cheaper/faster to just replace to whole unit. please help. thank you |

| OK then its going to be cheaper to have the dealer install the phone. To add the new 09 COMAND would involve a lot of slow wiring work and the labor price would be really high.

| We orderd our 09 SLK 350 with the comand system but it arived without it. Rather than re-ordering and missing the sumer I asked for an estimate to add/replace it, and was told it would run around 7 to 8k and that the mechanics realy did not want to do the work to install it. Said there were to many things that could go wrong with the install. So I guess I am looking at an after market alternative. No way I can wait another three months or more for another car. |

| Mate i'd really re-order, even if you tell MB that you will be keeping the car for summer

| Sounds like the dealer or factory F'ed up your order and they should accommodate you until your new car arrives. Last edited by Tummy; 06-05-2008 at 05:42 PM. Reason: as |

| You may be right Dan. I will ask and see what we can do. Problem is that my wife loves the car and does not want to let it go. My hands are tied as to what she wants becouse it was purchased for her on her 50th B-Day. |

| I understand that mistakes do happen. Did you have something in writing showing what you ordered? Once the vehicle was in production, was there anything in writing showing the specifications? Did the dealer offer anything other than a "take it or leave it" offer. I wouldn't want major surgery on a brand new car, especially with a less than enthusiastic technician. I think you will regret not having that option, especially with the integrated Bluetooth. My former brother-in-law ordered a new BMW 5 series with the top of the line stereo and NAV about five years ago. It arrived without one of the two (can't remember). Another car was reordered, and he drove the existing car for several months until the correctly configured car was delivered. Good luck in getting it resolved or in what you and your wife decide. Enjoy the new SLK.

| Yes I have the original order with the Multimedia Package shown as orderd. The car came with Blue Tooth and MP3. I did not see any production paper work on it at all until it arrived. It looks like all that is missing is the Navigation and Harman/Karden. We are talking about upgrading the speakers and adding an Amplifier (probably would have had that done anyway). So realy the only thing missing is the Navigation. Problem is, we live in Oregon were summer is over in a blink and we realy don't want to be without the Car. It is a play car so we realy dont need it anyway. We take the BMW for longer trips so we are thinking of a Tom Tom for out of town navigation. |

| The point being you've already paid for the nav, at no small premium

| x2 on this. Hopefully you'll be able to convince the wife. If not, at least bargain for some freebies, e.g., OEM Lexan windscreen, free Service A.
