Default 2009 SLK - Original speaker sizes/characteristics

Hi,
I just ordered a brand new 2009 SLK and decided not to go for harman/kardon option. I expect the OEM speakers with Audio 20 set will not sound that special so I'm already looking for a way how to gradually upgrade it. I plan to start with the speakers.

* Does any of you guys know the sizes and characteristics (e.g. impedance) for all OEM speakers present in the SLK?
* Which of the 8 speakers can be easily replaced (e.g. without braking the plastic parts)?
* Does any of you tried this and what was the end result?

Thanks a lot,
David

My understanding is that the HK system is an easy upgrade and not too expensive. Unless you're an audiophile, I would probably do that instead of replacing everything.

It's bloody expensive in the facelift because its a part of the headunit.

The OEM speakers are an odd shape, you will struggle to find aftermarket parts to fit I'm sorry.

Is the HK worthy the extra bucks? I read mixed reviews. I'm not looking for any artificial 5.1 surround, I just want it to sound good, not like from a can and have a good natural stereo effect (minimizing the effect of central speaker).

I expect by bloody expensive you mean aftermarket upgrade. I might still have a chance to alter the configuration of the car, so I'm considering the best option. Isn't the HK system only a quasi-surround sound bs?

Thanks.

I have the HK/NAV system. I like the sound, love the look. I have no problems with the sound quality. Go with the HK system, consider adding the NAV, it's not that bad.

Basically mate all you can do in the SLK is fit a different headunit and the weak link will still be the speakers so any improvement will be marginal at best.

I'd get HK fitted at the factory and leave it at that to be honest.

Did something similiar... replaced all my stock speakers with Hertz including the tweeters. Put in a Genesis amp, and a 12" woofer in the trunk. Very satisfied with the outcome.

I just discovered a broken woofer in my SLK 350 with H-K system.
Does anyone know or have pics about this system?

Is the woofer a 165mm? how much is deep?
I'd like to put a better pair of Woofer in it like JL Audio
