Default 3rd brake light flasher

I just bought this from ebay..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVE...QQcmdZViewItem

I installed it last night and work great. No need to add any resistor or light bulb to fake out the system. I don't have any error message.

The unit is so small, and I just tie wrap right next to the connector. I used some old computer fan connectors so I didn't have to cut any wire.

Very happy with the item.

Play around with the blue/yellow dial and turn it towards the middle or a tad to the slow side. If you put it on the fast side it will look like jst 3 flashes as the bursts within each flash is too close and will be seen as one. Towards the slow side of the dial, the 3 bursts within each flash is noticeable before the next sequence.

I'm not sure if I like BLF's as I think they make the light look like it's shorting out.

If it flashed in some other pattern, for example illuminated from a centre LED outwards, then I wouldn't mind.

Cyberdrakon's third break light works perfect.

YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Edit
I forgot there was a cop in that video..

Here's another with etyu (top up) and cyberdrakon (top down)

Like Eddy, I have one of the originals from NoRegret4Life (Lenny). It's installed on my wife's SLK. I need one for my SLK and maybe a couple for our other cars. I really think they're neat, like the look and added safety. St2288, thanks for the info and eBay link.

I bought the one from Lenny but lost it before I ever had a chance to install it.

Anyways, I like the ebay one due to the various modes. Flashing and then have a 15-30 second delay before re-flashing is a nice feature.

Do you have photos/tutorial on the wire connections using computer fan connectors?

I took your advice and ordered three on Sunday evening and received them this afternoon. I do a lot of eBay sales and purchases. I reviewed the sellers feedback and it's flawless with rave reviews for this product. Three, third brake light flashers were just under $97 with shipping. One for my SLK, VW, and Mazda. I was off today, but had plans to work around the house. I couldn't resist, had to install one (SLK). I had previously installed NoRegret4Life's version on my wife's SLK over a year ago. This version is smaller with three wires to connect. The unit's size is about 1/2 the size of a stick of gum, very small with one button for setting one of the available 37 modes and an internal transperant LED. To install, open the trunk lid, remove the five black pins holding the cover for the third brake light, remove the cover. Look for the third brake light, and disconnect the two wire connector (brown and red/black wires). The brown wire is ground and the red/black is power. The aftermarket third brake flasher has three wires, black/ground, red/black/12v DC power, and gray. To install, cut the ground wire, and install the black to the wire leading to the car ground (not the light). Red is attached to the red power wire without cutting. The gray is then connected to the black ground wire leading to the light. Simple, easy installation. I debated on cutting the ground wire, but with it being ground, I didn't see the harm. Once it's wired, it's simple to tape the wires, reconnect the power connector to the third brake light and install the cover. I two sided taped the third brake light flasher to the top of the plastic cover, it's easily accessible to change the flashing mode, while not visible. There's 37 different modes, one off/disabled and 12 each in three categories with zero delay, 15 second delay, and 30 second delay once the flash is activated. Total installation should be no more than 30 minutes. Plenty of flashing modes, fast. medium, and slow. Just pick out which you like the best, speed, and delay time. I set mine for medium speed, and zero delay. I want it to flash repeatedly every time I touch the brake. This is a great product and I recommend it based on price, quality, instructions, ease of installtion, and features. Thanks ST2288 for the lead.

I'm sure the set-up can be modified with some male and female (computer fan)connectors to make it plug-and-play without cutting, as ST2288 stated in his original post.

I agree 100%, but it's only a ground wire. Once cut, it's still grounded.
