| From my other post. I have been having a good look round a face lift SLK in my local showroom and while the new ant is an improvement over the original version its still a bit ott in my eyes. So, I screwed it out only to find that the thread is now different to that of the original i.e. the SL might not fit. There is though, two pieces to the base so one piece might be some form of an adaptor, I wasnt able to take it apart any further as you can imagine but, the SL stubby type might now no longer fit. Just thought you might like to know that. Portzy |

| Can't imagine any MB designer would be content with the redesign of the 2009 R171 antenna. I'm sure they received unfavorable feedback from the original design. Based on photos of the 2009 new style antenna, I'd opt for the old design with the options of the modded R170 or SL antenna.

| Shouldn't be a problem. The photos of the CLK63 Black and the SLR that I posted were taken in my dealership and they didn't care a bit. |

| Intermediate size between OEM SLK '05 and SL. I still prefer the SL.

| Here's the link: http://www.slkworld.com/general-modi...0-antenna.html The only thing, Portzy is reporting that the thread of the antenna base may be different on the facelift model. If the SL antenna won't fit, then the R170 won't either, as the screw threads are the same.

| I'm not sure of the wiring at the moment but what i think would look good is the total removal of the antenna. The Mk2 booster module could be used along with Michel's bumper antenna and the small hole in the bodywork left behind is well within the filling capabilities of a good bodyshop.

The only bit I cannot work out is that there is a small piece of what looks to be an extension to the base so that when the aerial is removed the base piece left behind stands taller that the present one and it has a small female thread. It could be that the base has an extension piece which, when removed, leaves behind the original base with the original SL sized male thread. HTH. Portzy. | |
